SATURDAY PREMIER LEAGUE: The Striker previews Saturday’s Premier League games with recommended BETDAQ bets. The action gets underway at 12.30pm with Liverpool hosting Burnley.

LIVERPOOL V BURNLEY

12.30pm It’s Matchday 2 in the Premier League and we have an excellent weekend ahead! We have an intriguing fixture list on Saturday, and all football bets are 0% Commission on BETDAQ Betting Exchange. We start the day with Liverpool hosting Burnley, hoping to avoid what happened in January last season. Liverpool were on a poor run at the time at Anfield, but Burnley came away with a 1-0 win – Burnley are actually unbeaten in their last two Premier League games at Anfield. Liverpool are trading very short at 1.22, but perhaps that stat might put a few punters off. Burnley lost on the opening weekend to Brighton; however they played well and created plenty of chances – they finished with an xG of 1.99 and while Liverpool should win, the 1.22 on Liverpool probably isn’t a fair reflection of the chance of Burnley.

On paper, Liverpool hammered Norwich 3-0 last weekend – but the underlining numbers are a little worrying for Liverpool fans. They conceded an xG of 1.81 which is quite high considering the gulf in class. When Norwich did find times to put Liverpool under pressure; they clearly still do have issues at the back. These might not be exposed today against Burnley, but Klopp needs to sort that out before they meet the bigger sides. With Liverpool so short in the match odds market, this is a game for small stakes and the side markets. Burnley created a lot last weekend, and Liverpool also conceded quite a high xG so I feel Burnley can get on the score sheet here. Both Teams To Score is trading 2.35 and that looks worth having a small investment on.

ASTON VILLA V NEWCASTLE

3pm Life without Jack Grealish didn’t start well for Aston Villa last weekend as they lost 3-2 to Watford. It was a close game, but I don’t think they can have too many complaints. While Newcastle lost 4-2 to West Ham after leading twice – having had the lead twice they might feel hard done by, but they were outplayed by a good West Ham side, Newcastle conceded an xG of 3.15 which is very high. Although this game won’t have many casual fans watching given we are back to having multiple games at 3pm, it will be very interesting to see who comes out on top. I feel both sides will be close enough to the bottom this season, but both have enough quality to stay up – could this be a fixture we look back on around Christmas and stay it made a difference and included one side in the relegation battle?

When I clicked into this market I was very surprised to see Villa odds on. I expected a much closer market than that. The stats from Villa last season without Grealish are quite poor; and as I said last weekend, they are definitely a side worth taking on until they show they are a quality side without him. We landed our Villa lay on the opening weekend, and based off what I saw there I’m very happy to lay them again here at odds on. However, because they are up against Newcastle and they are also a poor side – I’m happy to limit stakes. The Newcastle figures are always quite poor – but they always have enough quality to avoid the drop. They aren’t a side to rely on, and there will be some great opportunities to get against Villa this season at good odds. Today is a good time to lay odds on, but it’s also worth limiting stakes.

The Striker Says:
Two points lay Aston Villa to beat Newcastle at 1.87 with BETDAQ BETTING EXCHANGE

CRYSTAL PALACE V BRENTFORD

3pm You get the feeling that this is a massive game. Crystal Palace started life without Roy Hodgson with a 3-0 loss to Chelsea on the opening weekend. A loss would have been expected against Chelsea, but they only created 0.34 – which in fairness is in line with what Crystal Palace usually do. I feel this is a massive test for Palace, because a loss here would really signal the fact they will likely be involved in a relegation fight. They are one of my picks to go down, and I’ll be watching this game with interest in that regard. Brentford started the season with a brilliant win against Arsenal – home advantage played a huge part and you feel it was just a case of “Arsenal being Arsenal” away from home. Brentford created more, worked harder, closed Arsenal down quickly and deserved to win.

It will be interesting to see how Brentford get on without their home fans today and we should have a very close and competitive game. It’s no surprise that we have the most open market of the day here. That win against Arsenal should give Brentford a huge confidence boost given they have just come up to the Premier League, and they can take that good momentum into this fixture. On paper, I’m not a fan of Crystal Palace this season and I’m happy to get against them here. I’m also keen to keep the draw onside here given a very close game is expected so the Crystal Palace lay at 2.82 is the best value option here.

The Striker Says:
Two points lay Crystal Palace to beat Brentford at 2.82 with BETDAQ BETTING EXCHANGE

LEEDS V EVERTON

3pm This is another fascinating 3pm kick off, and today does make me miss the staggered TV schedule we had last season. However, it’s much better to have fans back in the stadium so it is worth having a few good games clash. Both sides has mixed fortunes on the opening weekend in the second half with Everton going in 1-0 down against Southampton and then winning 3-1, while Leeds went into half-time 1-1 with Man United and ended up losing 5-1. Everton deserved to win that game against Southampton as they created an xG of 2.19 to 0.75. I was impressed by their performance as I am keen to see how they start the season after losing their manager – they had a superb chance last season for European football but blew it to be honest – so where do they go from here? Mid-table every season is quite boring after a while.

Obviously it would be wrong to judge Leeds on one game, especially when that game is away to Manchester United, so it will be interesting to see their tactics here. Last season, they created some excellent chances going forward but they gave too much away at the back. Judging by last weekend, they haven’t changed – but it’s too early! As I said towards the end of last season, they really need to fix their issues at the back otherwise they won’t be successful in their aim of Top Six – the good sides will just pick them apart. This should be a close game though and although the draw is a very tempting price at 3.55 – we didn’t have a draw on the opening weekend by the way! I much prefer over 2.5 goals here at 1.74. Leeds will generally play an open game, and Everton were quite open against Southampton too, this should be a good game with plenty of chances for both sides.

The Striker Says:
Two points win Over 2.5 goals at 1.74 with BETDAQ BETTING EXCHANGE

MANCHESTER CITY V NORWICH

3pm The tough start to life in the Premier League continues for Norwich! As you would expect, Manchester City are the shortest price of any Premier League side today as they trade 1.13. You actually won’t find many club sides start shorter than that today in any league! City had a bad start to the season however with a 1-0 loss last weekend against Spurs. It’s fair to say that after all the trouble Spurs have had during the summer, that result was unexpected! City are still favourites for the title, but they have gone out to odds against now after positive starts for Chelsea, Liverpool and Manchester United. They should get back on track here though, anything bar an easy City win would be a complete shock. They’d probably pay 250 million for Harry Kane then!

Although it’s easy to joke about how much City would pay for Harry Kane, when you watch them play it’s pretty obvious that they are missing a striker. They really need a striker, and because it’s City no matter who they buy they will pay over the odds – it’s just one of those things. They were unlucky to lose against Spurs last week as they created an xG of 2.41 which is a high figure. They need a striker and a natural goal scorer though; otherwise we’ll see high xG figures and poor results again. Despite the lack of a goal scorer, watching Liverpool against Norwich last weekend makes me feel City will score plenty today. Any Other Home Win (Man City to score four or more and win) is trading 2.5 in the Correct Score market and that looks worth a small investment in a tricky game for betting given the price of City in the match odds market.

The Striker Says:
One point win Any Other Home Win Correct Score at 2.5 with BETDAQ BETTING EXCHANGE

BRIGHTON V WATFORD

5.30pm We finish the day with another very interesting fixture. Both these sides recorded hard fought wins on the opening weekend, and this should be a good game. That win against Aston Villa would have been a massive boost for Watford on their first Premier League game since coming back up from the Championship – it was a close game but they grinded it out in a high scoring thriller. We could actually see another very open game here as Brighton usually like to attack – Brighton also conceded an xG of 1.99 against Burnley on the opening weekend in their 2-1 win. That was a very high xG for Burnley, so it shows Brighton do have a few issues at the back to work out. I expect Brighton to come out on top here, but the xG figure against Burnley puts me off backing them at 1.79 – I feel that’s just a little short.

It’s never a bad option to look towards the goal markets when Brighton are playing. They are huge fans of xG so they are always likely to attack as they understand the science behind it. The Brentford owners are the same, so it’ll be interesting to watch their season with interest too. Over 2.5 goals looks well worth backing here at 2.32 in what should be an open game. I expected to see the price closer to 2.0 to be honest; however I can understand that Watford might be a little cagey. They played very well against Aston Villa though, and a similar approach will likely see plenty of goals again here.

The Striker Says:
Two points win Over 2.5 goals at 2.32 with BETDAQ BETTING EXCHANGE
