FA CUP FIFTH ROUND: The Striker previews NEWCASTLE v BRIGHTON and MANCHESTER UNITED v FULHAM both with a recommended BETDAQ bet.
NEWCASTLE V BRIGHTON
1.45pm We have a fantastic Sunday from the FA Cup on BETDAQ BETTING EXCHANGE in store! Two all Premier League clashes with two very interesting betting heats too. No doubt Manchester United will grab all the headlines today given their current situation, but we kick off the day with Newcastle hosting Brighton. Newcastle have a massive month coming up; they have a Carabao Cup Final to look forward to against Liverpool, and then they have a battle on their hands for a European spot. It wasn’t a good week in that regard – another loss against Liverpool left them with three losses from their last four Premier League games. They are three points behind Manchester City in fourth now, and they are unlikely to catch Pep Guardiola’s side. Their best hope is Nottingham Forest falling out of the Top Four – they are four points behind them, but Chelsea are also in between. Brighton have had a disappointing season so far, but three straight wins leaves them only one point behind Newcastle. The 7-0 hammering against Nottingham Forest seems to have been a line in the sand for the squad given they bounced back very well to beat Chelsea in the fifth round, then they’ve put in three Premier League wins. Maybe some hard conversations were needed, and they were productive.
Newcastle come into the game as the favourites at 2.2 with Brighton 3.35 and the draw is 3.95 at the time of writing. Newcastle have obviously had a tough fixture list recently – they’ve bumped into Manchester City and Liverpool within that run of three losses from four games. There’s only 0.05 between the sides on average xG created figures this season, but there’s a massive difference at the back. Brighton have an average xG conceded of 1.22 and Newcastle are much higher at 1.51. So far Brighton have been sloppy at the back, conceding more than they should while Newcastle have been getting away with things – sides haven’t been taking their chances. I would definitely lean towards a Newcastle lay here from a value point of view, but this game does scream goals. Both sides are creating a decent volume of chances and they are conceding their fair share of goals too – we should get an open and entertaining game here. Over 2.5 goals is trading 1.62 and that looks cracking value – that’s a confident bet to start the day for me.

MANCHESTER UNITED V FULHAM
4.30pm We finish Sunday with the most interesting fixture of the FA Cup Sixth Round in my opinion. Manchester United host Fulham in the middle of an ongoing crisis at Old Trafford. They’ve really struggled here under Ruben Amorim – Alejandro Garnacho stormed down the tunnel when taken off midweek against Ipswich, and that’s going to be another media circus. Morale around the club must be at an all-time low with the announcement of more staff getting sacked, while the under-performing players get sky-high wages. A Cup run is badly needed to be honest! We have an open betting heat here – Manchester United come into the game as the favourites at 2.46 with Fulham 3.1 and the draw is 3.6 at the time of writing. Even though United had to play with ten men for a large part of the game midweek against Ipswich, they were still so poor at the back. Every game they go into at the moment, it’s just hard to see how they can keep a clean sheet. I know we have an open betting heat, but I would actually have it even more open – I wouldn’t have United as short as 2.46 and I’d have Fulham shorter than 3.1.
In my opinion, Fulham will actually be a popular bet here. They have a better attacking figure than United in the Premier League this season – they have an average xG created of 1.55 compared to United at 1.45 – and they have a better defensive figures. There’s only 0.03 between the sides at the back, but Fulham have been more solid. Fulham have definitely improved in their away form this season too – they are finally creating more than they are conceding away from home. On paper, every United game screams goals at the moment and I can’t see either side sitting back here given it’s a Cup game. Over 2.5 goals is trading 1.9 and that looks cracking value. There’s two bets I like for this game – the Fulham win at 3.1 – or the United lay at 2.46 if you want the draw on your side too – and I also like Over 2.5 goals at 1.9. I feel both bets offer a lot of value, but I’m going to opt for the position on Overs. 1.9 is far too big in what should be an open game, and it’s worth a confident bet.
