PREMIER LEAGUE SUNDAY: The Striker previews the final day of the Premier League season with two recommended BETDAQ bets.
FINAL DAY PREVIEW
4pm We bring the Premier League 2024/25 season to a close on BETDAQ BETTING EXCHANGE on Sunday! As has been the case for many years now, all ten fixtures kick off at 4pm – it’s a shame that the title race and the relegation race have already been decided, but we do have plenty to play for in the race for European spots. As is always the way when all the games kick off at the same time, your eyes are drawn to some games and others you just wash over. I’m happy to focus on the meaningful games here with Champions League spots available.
As things stand, Manchester City are in third on 68 points, Newcastle, Chelsea and Aston Villa are next on 66 points with Nottingham Forest next on 65 points. By far and away the biggest game of the day is Nottingham Forest hosting Chelsea – that game is going to have the biggest impact on the Champions League spots. Aston Villa are odds on to win at Old Trafford, and Manchester United have to pick themselves up after losing the Europa League Final on Wednesday night. Newcastle are red-hot favourites to beat Everton with home advantage, and Manchester City are also odds on to win away against Fulham. Aston Villa are 1.8, Newcastle are 1.34 and Manchester City are 1.63.
In the most interesting game, Nottingham Forest are trading 3.2 with Chelsea 2.28 and the draw is 3.9 at the time of writing. Newcastle have opened the door for the others with a loss last weekend but obviously they had a difficult fixture against Arsenal. They have the easiest fixture on paper though, and obviously are trading the shortest price. You’d expect Villa and City to win too; although granted we know United and Fulham do have big performances in them. The way United have been playing this season, it’s probably more likely that Fulham upset City rather than United upset Villa!
Nottingham Forest have finished the season poorly in the race for a Champions League spot. We’ve had exceptionally high drama with the owner coming onto the pitch after the Leicester draw, but the reality is they have been massively over-performing this season. Their average xG conceded is 1.7 which is the fifth worst defensive figure in the Premier League; however their actual goals conceded average is 1.22. They are also over-performing in front of goal too. It’s hard to have confidence in them looking at those figures, but just based on how many results they have been able to grind out this season the 2.28 on Chelsea does feel a little short. That being said, Forest have to go for the win here which will likely open up the game a lot. Over 2.5 goals is trading 1.74 which looks a nice bet. That’s my most confident bet of the day.
The other bet I like is Aston Villa to beat Manchester United at 1.8. Villa have been finishing the season very strongly, and obviously United have been very poor this season. I know they have been fully focused on the Europa League for a while now, but their performances recently have been woeful. Maybe the crowd will be up for this one as Rashford comes back to Old Trafford, but I feel the 1.8 on Villa is ten ticks too high in my opinion. It’s hard to see past a City win at Fulham too, but I’m happy to stay out of that market with City at 1.63.
