SUNDAY PREMIER LEAGUE: The Striker previews Sunday’s three Premier League games with recommended BETDAQ bets. Arsenal v Chelsea looks the pick of the weekend’s games at 4.30pm.

SOUTHAMPTON V MANCHESTER UNITED

2pm We may only have three games in the Premier League but we have a fascinating day ahead! Not only do we have three interesting games, the markets on BETDAQ Betting Exchange are fascinating. We start the day with Southampton hosting Manchester United in a game that United should win, but we all know they have had issues in these types of fixtures since Sir Alex Ferguson left. They have made some top quality signings over the summer though, and perhaps times are changing at Old Trafford. This season will be a fantastic test, to see how far can Ole Gunnar Solskjaer progress. Southampton had a positive start last weekend, but they were totally outplayed in the second half against Everton conceding an xG of 2.19.

United had a brilliant second half against Leeds and blew them away. United looked full of confidence and played some superb football – United fans were rightly getting exciting. They still leave gaps at the back however, but Southampton probably won’t create enough to take advantage of that today. They only managed an xG of 0.75 against Everton. This isn’t a game for big stakes because I feel the jury is still out on Man United at the moment – I want to see how they progress this season before having a Max Bet on them at prices like this for example. However, the 1.67 looks very good value today to beat an average Southampton side – they look there for the taking but I fully respect United have had issues in games very similar to this. If they play like they did against Leeds however this should be one way traffic.

WOLVES V TOTTENHAM

2pm Another fascinating fixture here! Spurs got their season off to a flying start on the opening weekend with a 1-0 win over Manchester City. I think it’s fair to say nobody saw that coming – maybe not even most Spurs fans. They have had another week of the Harry Kane leaving saga, and perhaps at this stage it would be better for the club if he left. If he stays, will his heart be in it? Will the fans want him and how will his teammates react? I know football moves on quickly, but even so – I think it’s time they sell him. Wolves had a poor season last season, and although they started with a 1-0 loss against Leicester they actually played very well. They finished the game with an xG of 1.66 and they were very unlucky to lose the game considering they only conceded an xG of 0.55.

Although Spurs performed better than expected against Man City on the opening weekend, I’m not getting carried away. They still conceded an xG of 2.41 which is quite high and City were the best side – they just didn’t score. Ironically looking at the game, they need a striker like Harry Kane! I’m not surprised we have an open market here, it should be a very close game. I’m sure Spurs will have plenty of backers after the opening weekend, but I liked the Wolves performance and the jury is still massively out on Spurs. It was probably easy for them to have a shot to nothing against Man City but how will they cope with a tricky game here? I think they’ll come up short, and the draw looks good value for me at 3.25. This could be a low scoring game and I wouldn’t even put anyone off backing 0-0 in the Correct Score market. Wolves can get a result here.

ARSENAL V CHELSEA

4.30pm What a game to finish the weekend! I know all London Derbies are important for both sides, but this is a massive game for Arsenal isn’t it? After all the hype during the summer from the fans, they lose their opening game against Brentford and now some fans are even calling for Arteta to leave. It’s hard to see anything other than a drama filled season for Arsenal to be honest, but the reality is they started with a very disappointing loss and now they have to play Chelsea before Man City next week. If they don’t pick up anything here they will very likely be bottom of the table after three games. That will no doubt cause a big fuss with the fans and likely pile pressure on the manager. To be fair though, losing against Chelsea and Man City would be expected for Arsenal these days – it was the loss against Brentford that would do the damage if the next two games go as expected.

Chelsea are going to be a big force in the Premier League this season, and I’m confident they beat this average Arsenal side. The 1.81 is ten ticks too big on Chelsea and even though it’s still very early in the season, I can’t resist having a Max Bet on Chelsea at the odds. Arsenal were totally outworked and outplayed by Brentford last Friday and they will be outclassed by Chelsea here. My only worry is Arsenal have actually won the last three meetings between the sides, so they obviously turn up for the London Derby which is to be expected – however they look there for the taking and Chelsea are an improving side under this manager – I’d have Chelsea 1.7. Hopefully the first Max Bet of the season goes well!
