CARABAO CUP QUARTER FINALS: The Striker looks ahead to the matches between MAN U v CHARLTON and NEWCASTLE v LEICESTER on Tuesday including recommended BETDAQ bets.

MANCHESTER UNITED V CHARLTON ATHLETIC

8pm The domestic Cup action continues on BETDAQ Betting Exchange on Tuesday with the Quarter Finals of the Carabao Cup. We only finish the FA Cup Third Round on Monday night, and we’re straight into the Carabao Cup on Tuesday! We kick off the action with Manchester United host Charlton. Erik ten Hag said he was taking every competition seriously this season, but I still wasn’t expecting him to name such a strong XI for their game against Everton on Friday night. They recorded a smooth 3-1 win to make it ten wins from 11 in all competitions, although obviously that run had the World Cup in the middle of it. There’s no getting away from the fact that United look very confident and well drilled since returning from the World Cup. There’s no doubt that Ronaldo was causing some drama within the squad, and they seem very settled at the moment. This is a massive week for them though – they meet Manchester City on Saturday morning in the Premier League which is obviously a crunch match. A big loss there would be a big setback and leave most football fans saying they’ve only put a winning run together because of an easy fixture list. They have had an easy fixture list though, there’s no point lying, and they will be judged by how they play at the weekend more so than this fixture.

Despite ten Hag saying he was taking every competition seriously this season, surely he must be tempted to rest some players here. He doesn’t have a rest a lot, but I was surprised Varane and Eriksen started. United will be fully expected to beat the League One Charlton, and they are trading as short as 1.14 at the time of writing. Charlton are sitting in mid-table in League One at the moment which must be disappointing given they were in the playoff spots not too long ago. It seems that was as good as they could get and they unfortunately turned into a mid-table side again. I feel this is a case of how many goals will United score rather than will they actually win, and from that point of view we could easily see a lot of movement around the teams news. If ten Hag names another strong XI the market will expect plenty of goals. I also feel United can keep a clean sheet here though; they have been rock solid at the back lately and Both Teams Not To Score looks an excellent value play at 1.75. I’d expect to see United cruise to a 2-0 or 3-0 win.

The Striker Says:
Three points win Both Teams Not To Score at 1.75 on BETDAQ BETTING EXCHANGE.

NEWCASTLE V LEICESTER

8pm We finish Tuesday evening with an all Premier League Qyarter Final as Newcastle host Leicester. We had a lot of surprise results in the FA Cup over the weekend, and Newcastle losing to Sheffield United was one of them. Not a massive shock given how well Sheffield United have been playing in the Championship this season, but given how good Newcastle have been in the Premier League it was definitely a surprise. Leicester managed to record a 1-0 win over Gillingham and although there was a huge gulf in class between the sides, anything bar a win for Leicester would have been a shocking result. Winning “only” 1-0 was probably a little disappointing given Gillingham sit rock bottom of League Two, but fair to say Leicester needed a win after returning from the World Cup with three losses. These two sides met when the Premier League returned on Boxing Day, and Newcastle ran out very easy 3-0 winners away from home. Leicester have really struggled this season, and they are back in danger of slipping back into the relegation battle. The World Cup really came at a bad time for them – they had just got out of the relegation zone and they were starting to put a few decent performances together too. They are only two points away from the bottom three now, despite sitting in mid-table in 13th. This should be an interesting game, and surely both managers will name a strong XI given it’s a great chance to get into a Semi-Final.

As you would expect with home advantage and having beaten them recently, Newcastle are the odds on favourites. They are currently trading 1.61 at the time of writing, and that looks ten ticks too big in my opinion. Newcastle have been playing some superb football this season, and although losing in the FA Cup at the weekend was a setback, they did manage to take points of Premier League leaders Arsenal just before that. On paper, Newcastle come into this game without a win in three but they were very unlucky here against Leeds. They had to settle for a 0-0, but they created an xG of 2.85 and should have won that game. Over all their stats are looking very impressive and Leicester just continue to concede sloppy goals and struggle to create chances. There’s only one winner here in my view, and I’m very happy with the 1.61 on Newcastle.

The Striker Says:
Three points win Newcastle to beat Leicester at 1.61 on BETDAQ BETTING EXCHANGE.
