CARABAO CUP: The Striker previews Wednesday’s Carabao Cup Quarter Final between TOTTENHAM v WEST HAM with a recommended BETDAQ bet.

TOTTENHAM V WEST HAM

7.45pm We have a massive night of Carabao Cup action on Wednesday with (all going well!) three Quarter Finals taking place. It’s going to be a busy evening on BETDAQ Betting Exchange, Brentford v Chelsea and Liverpool v Leicester are too interesting fixtures, but I’m happy to focus on Spurs v West Ham which is the live Sky Sports game – you can’t beat a good London Derby!

West Ham had their weekend Premier League game postponed due to an outbreak of Covid19 in the Norwich camp, and Spurs drew 2-2 with Liverpool. This fixture should go ahead, as Spurs were the first Premier League side to go down with a Covid19 outbreak and things don’t seem too bad in the West Ham camp. It’s a very tricky situation, but it looks like the Premier League will continue. Spurs got knocked out of the Europa Conference League as UEFA ruled they “lost” the game 3-0 that they missed. That was unlucky for them, but I doubt they are too bothered – they never seemed to pay the competition too much respect.

As I said on Tuesday ahead of the Arsenal game, with Manchester City out of this competition it’s a fantastic chance for sides to win a trophy. That would be massive for a club like Spurs, who have gone so long without one. Obviously we have a very busy fixture list coming up after Christmas and over New Year, but I don’t expect teams to rest many star players here. That applies to Spurs more than most teams left in the competition as they missed a few games with Covid19, if the players are back to full fitness, and they should be, they should have no issues with fatigue.

West Ham have been fantastic this season, but they have two poor games coming into this one. I’m sure they were looking forward to playing Norwich at the weekend to get back to winning ways before that got postponed. They could only manage a 0-0 draw away to Burnley and then were hammered by Arsenal. They “only” lost 2-0, but Arsenal bossed the game. They have lost massive ground in the race for a Top Four finish, so a win here would be a nice boost for morale!

Spurs really impressed me at the weekend. That was probably their best performance of the season by a long way – it’s hard to think of a better one. They had to settle for a 2-2 draw at home to Liverpool, but they deserved to win looking at xG. I felt Liverpool would beat them easily, but credit to Spurs – if they play to a similar level here, they will win. This is the most open market of the night, but I still feel there is value in the Spurs price at 2.4. West Ham have been poor in their recent away games. Even ignoring the Man City loss which can happen to anyone, they were very poor away to Wolves prior to that, only creating an xG of 0.43. It looks like Conte has Spurs going in the right direction, and this is a good time to back them while West Ham are going through a little poor spell away from home.

The Striker Says:
Two points win Tottenham to beat West Ham at 2.4 with BETDAQ BETTING EXCHANGE.
