SAMPDORIA V SASSUOLO

7.45pm Friday night football from Europe comes from Serie A on BETDAQ Betting Exchange this week! It’s a massive weekend of action across Europe as we tick down to the final games of the season, and we only have one fixture to enjoy on Friday. Sampdoria host Sassuolo in the only fixture around Europe, and unfortunately for these two sides they can’t achieve anything heading into their final two games. Sampdoria sit nailed to the bottom of the table, and to be honest they just haven’t been good enough for Serie A this season while Sassuolo sit in mid-table.

This season hasn’t definitely been a step back for Sassuolo. They finished 8th in 2019/20 and 2020/21, then 11th last season and now they start this game in 13th. They aren’t going to catch Fiorentina in 11th so although they are in and around the same position as last season, they are in decline. Maybe after the 2019/20 and 2020/21 season you could say that they could push for a European spot, now they are closer to being dragged into a relegation battle. Let’s not be too harsh however, they are your classic mid-table Serie A side – they are 14 points off the bottom three so they aren’t in danger of going down any time soon.

For Sampdoria, it’s totally been a season to forget. They have spent most of it sitting bottom of the table without much to shout about. They’ve only won three games all season and their goal difference is brutally bad at -45 goals! As you can imagine, their under-lining numbers aren’t pretty. They are conceding an average xG of 1.8 and only creating 0.9. They aren’t even taking those chances – scoring goals as been a major issue for them, and their average per game only works out at 0.6. They will definitely struggle to bounce back up next season.

Sassuolo have been finishing the season poorly; they’ve only won once in their last six games. However prior to that run they did beat Juventus with home advantage, and they did play well away to Inter Milan this month despite losing 4-2. I wouldn’t say that their away form has been impressive, but it’s been good enough to get the job done here. Sampdoria have only managed nine points at home all season. Sassuolo come into the game trading as the marginal odds on favourites at 1.98 with Sampdoria 3.85 and the draw is 4.0 at the time of writing.

I have to say I was surprised to see Sassuolo trading as high as 1.98 here. As I said above, there really hasn’t been many positives for Sampdoria this season – they just haven’t been up to Serie A standard. Sassuolo are a solid side, they basically create what they concede – their average xG at both ends of the pitch is 1.3. Obviously that’s a reasonably low figure in front of goal but when you see how many goals Sampdoria are conceding I feel Sassuolo can get the job done here. They won’t be a Max Bet because it should be a low quality game, but the 1.98 is worth a confident bet.

The Ultra Says:
Three points win Sassuolo to beat Sampdoria at 1.98 with BETDAQ BETTING EXCHANGE.
