CHAMPIONS LEAGUE FINAL: Our European football tipster The Ultra previews Saturday’s Champions League Final between MANCHESTER CITY v CHELSEA with a recommended BETDAQ bet.

MANCHESTER CITY V CHELSEA

8pm As an excellent season, we have the pinnacle of elite club football on Saturday night as Manchester City and Chelsea clash in the Champions League Final. We should have an excellent game, and all football bets are 0% Commission on BETDAQ Betting Exchange for some top value! Man City are the odds on favourites, but only just as they are trading 1.95 at the time of writing. Chelsea have had the upper hand when the sides have met the last twice however, beating City 1-0 in the FA Cup Semi-Final and then 2-1 in the Premier League towards the start of the month.

Man City will point towards the xG figures of those games and say they should have won twice, or at least drawn, but there’s no doubt those two results will bother Pep Guardiola going into this fixture. Guardiola is a tactical mastermind, but the goal for Man City has always been to win the Champions League, and it’s likely he could overthink his tactics here with so much at stake. There’s no doubt, this would be Man City’s greatest achievement.

Chelsea have had a good season, and played some excellent football, but a loss here would leave them with nothing to show for it. In fairness, they looked very unlikely to see the Top Four in the Premier League before sacking Frank Lampard but a loss on the final day against Aston Villa left them in four and hanging on by their fingernails. Another loss in the FA Cup Final in a game where they started around 2.0 would have hurt, and every single Chelsea played stayed on the pitch to watch the trophy presentation for Leicester – perhaps a motivation tactic for this game, if they needed any extra motivation for a Champions League Final!

While Chelsea have come out on top in the last two meetings between the sides, I still feel there is a gulf in class between the sides. You have to take your chances in football, but City created an xG of 1.82 against Chelsea compared to 0.71 and were very unlucky to lose. If both sides play to their best ability, then City win – there is no question for me. They have been playing a very open game lately, but to be honest they have been enjoying themselves with the title won. They warmed up for this with a five goal win over Everton and their xG figures have been incredible in 2021 – you could see they would catch United and win the title a long time before they did.

I fully respect Chelsea as they have played very impressive football this season, but City are a Max Bet for me here at 1.95. They are the better side and are better going forward. I would expect a cagey start, perhaps 0-0 at half-time, but when the game opens up I can only see City creating chances. Chelsea may have won the last two, but City actually played the better football. They can correct those results now and go on to win the Champions League. The 1.95 looks superb value, especially with 0% Commission.
