LA LIGA / SERIE A: Our football tipster The Ultra previews Sunday’s featured three games in La Liga / Serie A including a recommended BETDAQ bet.

ELCHE V VILLARREAL

1pm We have another fascinating Sunday in Europe on BETDAQ Betting Exchange! We start earlier than usual at 1pm with the only game in La Liga this weekend as Elche host Villarreal. It’s mainly a Copa Del Rey weekend in Spain, but most of the big sides aren’t in action. Elche will be pleased to play this fixture however as they recorded a massive 2-1 win over Espanyol on Monday night to move them into 16th and out of the relegation zone. It’s still very tight between the bottom six with Mallorca getting dragged into things now, and it’s going to be a fascinating finish to the season! Despite Villarreal playing some very good football at the moment, Elche will obviously fancy their chances of a result here off the back of their win away to Espanyol. That being said, it’s actually hard to see past Villarreal here when you look at the underlining numbers. They drew 2-2 with Atletico Madrid last weekend, but they played them off the park creating an xG of 2.47 to 0.64.

We landed a nice lay bet on Espanyol against Elche on Monday night, but the angle there was Espanyol were a very up-and-down side and I felt the odds were just too short for a side like that against Elche who grind out games. Elche are a very limited side, but you have to work hard to beat them. I feel that will be the difference in this game though between Espanyol and Villarreal. As I said prior to the Atletico Madrid game, Villarreal are playing their best football of the season at the moment and it’s a very good time to support them. We couldn’t land our bet on them to beat Atletico, but they were very unlucky not to win. They have been putting in some very impressive xG figures recently – figures likes 4.26, 3.60, 3.11, 2.15 and 1.85. They beat Real Sociedad 3-1 comfortably away from home recently and they can do a number on Elche here. The 1.8 is a Max Bet in my opinion; this seems the time to support Villarreal given the football they are playing at the moment!

ROMA V CAGLIARI

5pm Next we move to Serie A as we finish the day with two cracking games in Italy. All the focus will be on Atalanta against Inter Milan later, but Jose Mourinho’s Roma host Cagliari. The Roma v Juventus took all the headlines last weekend, for all the wrong reasons from a Roma point of view as they lead 3-1 only to lose 4-3. They conceded three goals in seven minutes, Jose must have been going mental in the dressing room. He had his usual lash out at some players post-match, and it will be interesting to see what type of performance we see from Roma here. They should really be beating this Cagliari side who are in a relegation battle. They have won their last two games though, and they have a decent chance of staying up. They will start this game sitting in the bottom three, and you’d have to fancy the bottom two to go down although Selernitana have two games in hand and they are five points behind Cagliari. You also have to consider the fact that Venezia who are just above Cagliari also have a game in hand, so the pressure is definitely on the visitors.

As you would expect given where Cagliari are in the Serie A table, Roma are heavy odds on favourites here. They are trading 1.4 at the time of writing. As I said above, they should beat this average Cagliari side, but I wouldn’t be comfortable lumping on the 1.4 – I think we can find better value in the side markets. Roma are just conceding too many silly goals at the moment. It’s very un-Jose like to be honest for them to play such an open game – they have conceded 28 goals this season already! That loss against Juventus was massive when you look at the table, but they just have to keep winning and hopefully get a Europa League spot now. Once again, you have to fancy overs here. Over 2.5 goals looks big at 1.67 as Roma will play their usual open game and Cagliari concede a host of chances too. I can only see goals here and another entertaining Roma game!

ATALANTA V INTER MILAN

7.45pm We stay in Serie A to finish the day with a massive clash at the top of the table as Atalanta host Inter Milan. This is a huge game for the hosts as they have been losing ground lately and Juventus have been closing them down in the race for a top four finish. Obviously playing Inter is the toughest match you can have in Serie A and Atalanta could find themselves under immense pressure after this weekend. They do have a game in hand on AC Milan, Napoli and Juventus so that is a positive, plus their goal difference is good compared to Juventus – but it’s a bit early in the season to be worrying about that! Inter have really taken over at the top of the table, and they started this weekend one point clear of AC Milan with a game in hand. It appears the title will go to Milan this year whatever happens, as there’s a gap back to Napoli. AC Milan finished last season poorly and Inter really went on a winning run from now – they are currently on an eight game winning run is Serie A.

The last time Inter were held to a draw was against AC Milan, but they deserved to win that game as they created an xG of 2.55 in a 1-1 draw. They were also held to a draw when these sides met earlier in the season. The game finished 2-2, but Inter actually created an xG of 4.25 – it’s not often you see an xG that high and they really should have won the game. Their xG figures have actually been incredible recently – they come into this game off the back of performances with 2.42, 0.90, 3.08, 3.85, 1.49, 2.66, 2.79 and 1.99. I could go back further and the figures would be just as impressive. Atalanta managed to score six last weekend, but they have been struggling lately to create consistent chances. They were unlucky away to Genoa and the 4-1 loss to Roma was unfair but they still only managed an xG of 1.31 at home. I feel Inter can run all over them here, and the 2.28 is worth a Max Bet when you look at the data here!
