WORLD CUP GROUP L: The Ultra previews GHANA v PANAMA with a recommended BETDAQ bet.
🏆 World Cup 2026 🏆
🇬🇭 Ghana v Panama 🇵🇦
12am (Thursday) Group L continues in the early hours of Thursday morning UK time as Ghana take on Panama in Toronto on WORLD CUP 2026 Betdaq Betting Exchange! . While all the noise around Group L will be about England and Croatia earlier, this is an absolutely massive fixture for these two sides. With England and Croatia expected to take up the top two spots in Group L, both sides will be aiming to win here and hopefully get into one of the eight third-placed finisher spots for the knockouts. It is effectively a Cup Final for third place before the Group stage has even gotten going properly, and both managers will be acutely aware of that.
Ghana come into the game as the favourites at 2.28 with Panama 3.55 and the draw is 3.45 at the time of writing. Ghana’s story heading into this tournament has been more about off-field matters. Carlos Queiroz – the 73-year-old Portuguese veteran who has managed at five World Cups across his career and most people will remember for being Sir Alex Ferguson’s number two at Manchester United – was appointed just 72 days before the tournament opened, after Otto Addo was sacked following the March friendlies. Mohammed Kudus is also out injured, not having the Tottenham midfielder is a significant blow going forward. The attacking burden falls heavily on Antoine Semenyo of Manchester City, who has had an excellent Premier League season in fairness.
In qualifying, Ghana were impressive – eight wins from ten matches in CAF Group I. The quality of opposition in CAF qualifying and the quality of opposition at a World Cup are very different things though. While they aren’t trading odds on, they will still be expected to beat Panama. They are back at the World Cup for only the second time in their history, eight years on from their debut in Russia 2018, and by pure coincidence find themselves in the same group as England once again. Panama’s identity is built on defensive organisation and the ability to grind out results. They went unbeaten through CONCACAF qualifying, topped their Group too, but obviously the level is quite low there. They beat the United States 1-0 in a March 2025 friendly, but it is hard to know what to expect from them. It feels like they won’t be here to play pretty football – they are here to make life miserable for opponents!
WORLD CUP 2026 Betdaq Betting Exchange!
Ghana, on their day, have the pace and creativity to find a way through. But Panama have proven time and again that they are harder to beat than the market suggests – I wouldn’t be rushing to take the 2.28 at Ghana. I do feel this is a game for small stakes, and I’m also happy to stay out of the match odds market. I suppose given the Group situation, you could easily call this a must win game for both sides, but how open the game will be is the big question. Panama are the kind of side that will make this very tough for Ghana, and we could get a very cagey game. I know a draw will be a bad result for both sides, but I wouldn’t be surprised to see a low scoring affair. Under 2.5 goals is trading 1.69 and that looks worth a small investment in a tricky game to call.
