8pm The pressure is on for the Knockout Stage of the Champions League, and we have a huge tie on BETDAQ BETTING EXCHANGE! The football world will stop on Tuesday night to watch Manchester City host Real Madrid, with one of the tournament favourites and biggest clubs around Europe sure to exit early in the tournament. Both clubs have been lacklustre in the Champions League to date – hence why they are here – but there’s no doubt that this is the biggest game of the season for both clubs, at least until the second leg anyway – then that becomes the biggest game. We have had some exceptionally entertaining clashes between these two in the Champions League over the last few years; it’ll be interesting to see how they approach this tie.
We have an open betting heat, and Pep Guardiola’s men come into the tie as the favourites with home advantage. Manchester City are 2.4 with Real Madrid 2.96 and the draw is 3.95 at the time of writing. As I said above, we have had some thrillers between these clubs recently; however three of the last four meetings have ended with a draw. It might have been an entertaining 3-3 draw, but a draw none the less. We’ve also had score lines like 4-0, 3-1, 4-3 and 4-1 since 2017. I actually thought we’d see Over 2.5 goals trading shorter than 1.51 when I clicked into the market. On paper, this game absolutely screams goals – especially because City have been so poor at the back this season.
Much has been made about all the problems at Old Trafford this season on the red side of Manchester. Well, Manchester City have conceded more goals than Manchester United in the Premier League this season. At times, they have been played through far too easy and they have thrown away a lot of winning positions too. Real Madrid had a tough game at the weekend in the Madrid Derby; a 1-1 draw wasn’t the worst result and they stayed at the top of La Liga.
Both sides have been playing some excellent football going forward this season. They have been a little sloppy at the back – Real Madrid had leaked goals in the Champions League. Stuttgart and Salzburg got on the score sheet against them; Lille beat them 1-0 and then they conceded twice in entertaining wins against Dortmund, Atalanta – they lost 3-1 to AC Milan and 2-0 to Liverpool. I would personally have City a little bigger in the market given the volume of goals they have been conceding – they just haven’t been themselves this season. However, I do feel the best value position is Over 2.5 goals at 1.51, we’re getting so much value it’s worth a Five Star NAP in my opinion. I just feel this game screams goals; both sides like to play attacking football and they have been far too open at the back too. We should have another entertaining game ahead!
