WEEK AHEAD: The Premier League returns after the international break, there’s European action during mid-week and the T20 Cricket World Cup gets into full swing from Oman and the UAE.


Monday’s action starts early at 11:00 Ireland face Holland in the T20 World Cup, while the Premier League is back with a rejuvenated Arsenal side taking on Crystal Palace at 20:00.

It’s a similar schedule on Tuesday. Scotland play the second of their T20 World Cup matches, when taking on competition debutants Papua New Guinea at 11:00. From then switch over to BT Sport, to catch Celtic in a rare Tuesday Europa League clash at 15:30. Then it’s the usual Champions League Tuesday night fare, with first, Club Brugge v Manchester City at 17:45 before what looks a cracking match as Liverpool travel to face Atletico Madrid, live from 20:00.

On Wednesday Ireland could get a shock in the cricket when they face three-time T20 World Cup finalists Sri Lanka, catch the start at 15:00 on Sky Sports before Leicester are in action away at Spartak Moscow in the Europa League at 15:30 (BT Sport). In the Champions League Chelsea and Man United both look capable of securing wins against Malmo and Atalanta, both games are live from 20:00.

Early on Thursday morning the third renewal of the ZOZO Championship golf from Japan gets underway at 05:00 on Sky Sports. There should be just time to grab a bite to eat after the players have finished their round and before Scotland face tournament co-hosts Oman in the cricket at 15:00. After that there’s an evening of Europa League on BT Sport, beginning with Tottenham away to Dutch side Vitesse at 17:45, followed by two 20:00 kick-offs where West Ham take on Genk and Rangers are at home to Brondby.

Ireland’s T20 match on Friday with Namibia could turn out to be crucial to their chances of qualifying from Group A, catch that action live at 11:00. In the evening rugby union fans can get stuck into Northampton Saints v Worcester Warriors at 19:00 on BT Sport. Then it’s Arsenal on screen again as they take on Aston Villa live on Sky Sports.

On Saturday, league leaders Chelsea are at home to Norwich in the early kick-off at 12:30 on Sky Sports, there’s more rugby at 14:30 on BT Sport, before a big game in the T20 World Cup where England take on holders the West Indies in the first round of the Super 12 stage, live from 15:00 on Sky Sports. Later on, Manchester City could be in for a harder task than they bargained for when they take on Brighton at 17:30.

The week draws to a close on Sunday with an early end to the golf at the ZOZO Championship before several big games from the Premier League. West Ham take on Tottenham at 14:30 before a fixture where emotions always run high, when Liverpool travel to Old Trafford to take on Man United, with the action live from 16:30 on Sky Sports. If that wasn’t enough of a thrill, there’s always the US Grand Prix at 20:00.
