The opening ‘Gowran Park Claiming Race’ wins no awards for originality in the race title stakes but does look to contain the best bet on Wednesday’s Gowran Park card.
The Jim Bolger trained Vitalized very much looks the one to be on. She ran a fine race here last time out over this trip when a 25/1 third to Aurelia Cotta in handicap company. She was only a head away from second spot and encouragingly pulled six lengths clear of the third.
She’s officially rated the second best in the field but the terms of the claiming race make her an attractive bet. For example, she is 10lb better off at the weights compared with For Goodness Sake (also rated 71) than if this had been a handicap.
