BEST OF BOTH WORLDS: SHAMROCK looks ahead to the Listed races and the Irish Cesarewitch at the Curragh and the Ladbrokes Munster National at Limerick.
Great racing on both the flat and over the jumps in Ireland on Sunday.
Without further ado………
CURRAGH
2:25 Waterford Testimonial Stakes For The Defence Forces Cup (Listed) (3yo+, Class 1, 6f, 10 runners)
A competitive renewal with Eddie Lynam saddling three runners as he goes in search of his third consecutive win in the race. Best of his and my selection is Fort Del Oro who was only headed in the closing stages of a Listed contest at York last time out and looks capable of further improvement.
2:55 Staffordstown Stud Stakes (Fillies’ Listed) (2yo, Class 1, 1m, 9 runners)
When you’re called Best In The World you surely have to be quite talented? The Galileo filly certainly made a promising start at Gowran Park when second to Rayisa who had the benefit of experience and with normal improvement she should take a great deal of beating to give the stable another win in a race they have dominated over recent years.
4:05 Tote Irish Cesarewitch (Premier Handicap) (3yo+, 2m, 21 runners)
As competitive as ever but I’m happy to give Dermot Weld’s Silver Concorde a spin. He is unbeaten in two starts on the flat but best known for his jumping exploits and he is a class act – winner of the Cheltenham Champion Bumper last year and runner-up in the Punchestown equivalent.
4:40 Go Racing In Kildare Finale Stakes (Listed) (3yo+, Class 1, 1m 4f, 5 runners)
This could be another for Dermot Weld who saddles Variable. The filly was an easy winner of a Cork maiden and then fourth in a Listed race at Naas won by Outstanding who has gone on to be placed in Group company. This is a much easier looking Listed race.
LIMERICK
3.45 Ladbrokes Munster National Handicap Chase (Grade A)
A competitive 16 runner field and don’t be afraid to make some offers on BETDAQ with the aim of securing a better price and getting the added bonus of just 2% COMMISSION should your offer be matched. Perfect Promise is progressing well over fences and gets into this off a fighting weight. The mare proved she could handle the hustle and bustle of a big field race when second to Rogue Angel at Galway and returned to the track for an easy win last time out.
