CHAMPIONS LEAGUE WEDNESDAY: We preview Wednesday’s Champions League games between LIVERPOOL V RED BULL SALZBURG and LILLE V CHELSEA with a recommended BETDAQ bet.
LIVERPOOL V RED BULL SALZBURG
8pm Reigning Champions Liverpool Have work to do in Group E after losing their opening fixture 2-0 away to Napoli. It seems likely that both Liverpool and Napoli will beat both Red Bull Salzburg and Genk in this Group – so Liverpool have to just keep winning and hope they can top the Group when they meet Napoli at Anfield. A draw for Red Bull Salzburg would be massive here after they won their opening fixture, probably assure them of a Europa League spot with an outside chance of qualifying.
The match odds at the time of writing currently trade; Liverpool 1.33, Red Bull Salzburg 10.5 and the draw is 6.2. Liverpool should have little trouble winning this fixture with home advantage. They have been simply excellent at Anfield and have an incredible unbeaten home record in the Premier League now. We like them to cover the 1.5 goal handicap – currently trading 1.92 which looks great value given how they have dominated teams at home this season.

LILLE V CHELSEA
8pm Chelsea are another Premier League side who have work to do in their Champions League Group after losing their opening fixture. It would have been bitterly disappointing for them to lose 1-0 at home against Valencia and now another loss here would see them in huge trouble. Even a draw would put them in a bad spot with Ajax already beating Lille and it’s hard to see Chelsea winning away to Valencia and Ajax. It’s early days; but they need a win tonight.
The match odds at the time of writing currently trade; Lille 3.85, Chelsea 2.12 and the draw is 3.6. It’s been a good week for Chelsea – they banged in seven goals in the Carabao Cup and then had a comfortable 2-0 win at home to Brighton at the weekend. They needed those two games after losing two home games to Valencia and Liverpool along with conceding plenty of goals to the likes of Wolves, Sheffield United and Norwich. There’s no doubt that Chelsea are below their usual level this season; however the standard in the French League is vastly below the Premier League and Chelsea should really get the job done here. We feel that they should be odds on, despite their struggles, and the drop in class should suit them here.
