CURRAGH CENTRE STAGE: Racing at the Curragh takes centre stage on Sunday with the feature being the Group 2 Juddmonte Beresford Stakes at 4.15. Shamrock goes head to head with DAQMAN in the 2.40.
Aidan O’Brien has a great record in the Beresford and relies on Battle Of Marengo for this year’s renewal after his other intended runner Kingston Jamaica has been withdrawn.
It leaves a field of just four and Battle Of Marengo as the red hot favourite at around 1.44 on BETDAQ. He’s acheived the most. He made all to win a Listed contest at Leopardstown last time out to land the odds despite the saddle slipping and the form looks rock solid given the runner-up Trading Leather made all himself to win at Gowran Park on his next start by seven lengths !!
Battle Of Marengo hasn’t handled ground as soft as this so I can’t get involved in terms of a nap at that price with that question mark – and I agree with my colleague DAQMAN that Muaanid represents a very interesting alternative with proven form on the ground and plenty of untapped potential.
For the nap however, I disagree with DAQMAN and one of us will be correct as he is laying Viztoria, my nap, in the Blemhim Stakes at 2.40.
She has been a positive in morning trade on BETDAQ and the filly could hardly have been more impressive on debut when scorching home (at 33/1) by over seven lengths. The ground was heavy and the form has worked out so I am thinking that she could be an extra special filly and can take this against more experienced rivals.
