Obviously South Africa were heavily impacted by the two red cards, but Mexico dominated the game from an early mistake. You could argue that they should have created and scored more perhaps; but they controlled the game and got the job done. South Korea would have been unlucky to lose against Czechia if they didn’t come back from 1-0 down; they had 62% possession and the higher xG figure too. South Korea are no pushovers and the Montes suspension adds uncertainty to Mexico’s usually solid defensive structure. I feel the match odds market is just about right here; Mexico deserve to be favourites but not odds on. The home advantage is obviously massive, and the atmosphere will be superb.

I feel both these sides will gel together very well and we should get an entertaining game. South Korea were happy to play a reasonably open game in their opener, and surely Mexico will fight fire-with-fire here too. Over 2.5 goals is trading 2.5 and I was very surprised to see that trading so high – I really thought we’d see a pretty even market there. Under 2.5 goals looks quite short at 1.64. We also have to consider the fact that a draw could easily suit both these sides too, and for that reason I’m happy to keep stakes small but I do feel we’ll have an entertaining game here.
