DAQMAN ON TOUR: DAQMAN has a selection from each of the five meetings on Friday. He saves his nap for Chelmsford tonight under floodlights.

MARAWEH SAVES THE DAY: Maraweh (WON 11/4) was a winner from DAQMAN’s four bets on Thursday. The nap, Winter Lion, was pipped half a length at Musselburgh.

SET THE SATURDAY ALARM EARLY: Racing gets underway at 12.10 at Doncaster on Saturday. It’s the final fling for flat racing on Town Moor. Don’t miss DAQMAN’s full coverage of all the big races including the Badger Ales Trophy at Wincanton and and racing from Aintree.

A ‘proper’ jumping afternoon today with three cards, all on various degrees of soft ground. Flat fans are catered for too with evening racing from Chelmsford and a tricky looking card from Dundalk.

A bit like when the Quality Street tin comes round at Christmas, DAQMAN will over-indulge with ‘one from each’ – just replace flavours with racecards for today!

EMILY TO BEAT EBONY AT FONTWELL

Soft ground at Fontwell and they could well end up finishing strung out like Monday’s washing in the EBF Stallions/TBA Mares’ Beginners’ Chase at 2.10.

This will be a real slog for the five runners over 2m 5f and Emily Gray very much looks the one to be with. She likes the ground, has a ton in hand on official ratings and comes back a fresh horse. She’s from the Kim Bailey yard who have been amongst the early season winners – two winners in the last two days with Milord at Towcester yesterday and Net Work Rouge at Warwick on Wednesday.

Ebony Empress has run a couple of good races recently at Uttoxeter and looks the biggest threat.

RACER TO STRIKE AGAIN AT HEXHAM

The Rowlands ‘National Hunt’ Novices’ Hurdle at 1.50 looks quite a strong race for the track and pitches together some good prospects.

The Malcolm Jefferson trained Ryedale Racer makes most appeal on his hurdling debut. His two bumper runs were both here at Hexham and he was particularly impressive when beating Smart Talk by seven lengths in the second of them. Smart Talk has gone onto to make a winning bow over hurdles and ‘Ryedale’ can follow suit. Presenting Junior is the favourite but has had a long spell chasing and was never as good over the smaller obstacles.

IRRESISTIBLE ARISTO AT MUSSELBURGH

Aristo Du Plessis’s chances of a fifth win from six starts have been made easier with the defection of three runners in the 3.00 at Musselburgh.

He could easily be on a run of five straight wins but for falling at Wetherby four out when well clear. He made amends at Ayr last time and still looks ahead of the handicapper and capable of defying the penalty.

FLEUR THE FORCE BE WITH YOU

The opener at Dundalk has been won by an odds-on shot for two of the last three runnings but there’s no danger of that this year with a wide open looking renewal. It doesn’t look a strong maiden and I thought that La Fleur De Force looked interesting on her all-weather debut. She has had four starts on the turf ranging quite dramatically from 5f to a mile but has shown better form over the shorter trips and when raced over tonight’s minimum trip was a good fourth at 66/1 to Know at Navan.

MOORE TONIC AT CHELMSFORD

Shocking news that Sussex trainer Gary Moore was in intensive care in hospital on Thursday night with damaged ribs and fluid on his lungs after being kicked several times by one of his horses at his stables.

Daughter Hayley said: “He was kicked in the back more than once and has damaged a number of ribs.” Hopefully he will be on the mend soon and I wish him well.

Dutch Golden Age can hopefully provide a welcome tonic for the stable at Chelsmford tonight in the 7.10. He doesn’t look to have much to beat and showed more than enough when second on debut at Kempton to suggest he can win this.
