SUPERNAPS DOUBLE: SIX IN MAY: Three races, three winners! Daqman’s classic Sunday tipping included a supernaps double to continue his magic May sequence and he finished with Sam Hawkens (WON 11-2). His three-day Chester profit was 124.15 and his Sunday trio won him 37.66. The high-stakes bets were:
WON 4-5 ZARIGANA (Sunday French supernap)
WON 1-3 DELACROIX (Sunday Irish supernap)
WON 13-8 THE FOXES (Friday nap)
WON 6-5 ILLINOIS (Thursday supernap)
WON 1-1 MOUNT KILIMANJARO (Thursday max stakes)
WON 13-8 MINNIE HAUK (Wednesday supernap)
WON 6-4 COSMIC YEAR (supernap, Friday
WON 4-11 MAJBOROUGH (supernap, Thursday)
LOOK OUT THIS WEEK AT YORK: It all goes quiet for a couple of days until the Dante meeting at York, with the Musidora Stakes on Wednesday, the Dante Thursday and the Yorkshire Cup on Friday.
MOORE O’BRIEN CLASSICS..
Classic double a day three times. Aidan O’Brien, who won both the Cheshire Oaks (Minnie Hauk) and Chester Vase (Lambourn), then the Lingfield Oaks Trial (Giselle) and Derby Trial (Puppet Master) took the Leopardstown Derby Trial yesterday with Delacroix.
But the trials turned into a Classic day when Ryan Moore landed the French 2,000 Guineas with Henri Matisse, pipping Andrew Balding’s Jonquil a head.
Kieran Shoemark seemed to put behind him losing the Newmarket Guineas on Field Of Gold and his first-jockey job with Team Gosden, as She’s Perfect passed he post first in the French 1,000 for Newmarket’s Charlie Fellowes.
But the stewards judged she had caused interference and odds-on Zarigana, beaten a nose under a too-late ride by Mickael Barzelona, was awarded the £259k prize, and Barzelona praised for taking an outside berth!
CHORUS OF APPROVAL
⭕ 4.17 Catterick a 5lb penalty is expected to be shrugged off by Spring Chorus here judged by her effortless win last week at Beverley.
She was making her debut for Michael Herrington and bolted clear to win by five lengths over the same 1m 4f trip as today.
The change of yard seems to have worked wonders and the handicapper didn’t really have any option but to keep dropping her in the weights given that her two starts before that she was beaten by an aggregate of 96 lengths !!
She’s versatile ground wise (career wins have come on soft and good to firm) and another easy win today could see the handicapper react quite significantly over her lowly mark.
The consistent Penelope’s Sister is the main rival on the Betdaq Betting Exchange market and probably represents our biggest danger.
She reappeared after a lengthy break to run a solid third at Ayr at the beginning of the month and Paul Mulrennan now takes over in the saddle from 3lb claimer Amie Ward.
IT’S A DEAL
⭕ 4.47 Catterick this is like a reunion with no fewer than six previous course and distance winners fighting it out.
Best of the course specialists today could be Dream Deal who is another horse I’m tipping today who has just switched stables.
In his case he has joined Tim Easterby and made a pleasing debut for him when a length second to Sacred Falls here last month. Off the same mark he should be able to go one better.
David Allan takes over from Amie Ward in the saddle (there’s a certain symmetry about today’s first two selections!).
MREMBO HAS GOT THE MEMO
⭕ 7.03 Windsor just the four runners here and Tralee Girl will be all the rage (around 1.5 in mid-morning trading) under Oisin Murphy on handicap debut.
She’s entitled to improve further on just her fourth start but the pure form value of her Catterick win last time out is modest (third well beaten next time out) and she bumps into a reasonable yardstick here in the form of Mrembo to which she has to give 9lb.
That might not be so straight forward as Mrembo is a previous course, distance and ground winner who was only just collared at Brighton last time out.
She’s effective enough at this lowly level and the price differential on Betdaq looks too extreme for my liking.
