NAP-HAPPY CLASSIC WEEKEND: Daqman landed his fourth winning nap in five days with a 6-4 shot scoring back-to-back maximum stakes bets.

WON 6-4 COSMIC YEAR (supernap, Friday)
WON 4-11 MAJBOROUGH (supernap, Thursday)
WON 2-1 MARINE NATIONALE (nap, Tuesday)
WON 6-5 SPIRIT OF ACKLAM (nap, Monday)

IT’S 2,000 GUINEAS DAY: Daqman has another supernap for the opening of the Guineas meeting at Newmarket today plus bull’s-eye bets to win 50 points. He starts with the 2,000 Guineas.

GOLD GREAT FOR THE GUINEAS

⭕ 3.35 Newmarket (2,000 Guineas): STATS since 2013: favourites have won 7-11. STALLS 1-6 eight. TRAINER: Aidan O’Brien 4, Charlie Appleby 2. RUNS and RATING: 109 or higher from three outings or more.

1 FIELD OF GOLD: The further they went in the Craven Stakes, the further clear went the Kingman grey Field Of Gold who can put Team Gosden and Kieran Shoemark – their new Dettori – back on the Classic podium.

Galloping out of the notorious Dip, Field Of Gold won a long-looking three and a half lengths from key player Wimbledon Hawkeye, the Royal Lodge winner.

Aidan O’Brien’s many star two-year-olds were today replaced for choice or for readiness by Twain and Expanded but Twain also stays in his box after working badly.

That leaves Expanded as sole starter for Ballydoyle. Had only two races and reported ‘still very raw’ in the autumn when, on his second start, he finished neck runner-up in the Dewhurst on today’s Rowley Mile to Charlie Appleby’s Shadow Of Light.

Shadow Of Light came to that race with three previous wins to his name, including the Middle Park (6f), hardly a portent for the Guineas, and William Buick prefers Derby hope Ruling Court, the Meydan Guineas winner in March.

2 RULING COURT Another son of City Of Troy’s sire, Justify, he was third in the Acomb at York in August behind O’Brien’s The Lion In Winter (another said to be not ready in time for today) when Wimbledon Hawkeye was runner-up, no match for the winner.

3 SCORTHY CHAMP sprang a surprise in the National Stakes, turning over the odds-on O’Brien juvenile star, Henri Matisse, and sure to like the ground.

4 GREEN IMPACT Along with the absent O’Brien two-year-old aces, Henri Matisse (won a Group 3 in March) and Camille Pissarro (beaten at the Curragh in March), he’s a Wootton Bassett.

Big, laid-back and easy to train, Jessica Harrington’s Group-2 juvenile winner, ‘could be anything’ if he’s filled his frame and wintered well.

Betdaq Betting Exchange 3 Field Of Gold, 5.8 Ruling Court, 10 Scorthy Champ, 13 Green Impact.

GAME, SET AND LOVE MATCH

⭕ 1.10 Newmarket: William Haggas has won this three times in the last six years and Unequal Love looks likely to land back-to-back strikes.

When the mare had to move into Pattern company after winning the Wokingham, she stepped up to a Group-3 third, beaten a length, then a Group-1 third beaten a length (Haydock Sprint Cup).

⭕ 1.45 Newmarket: Andrew Balding, who was in terrific form with an HQ hat-trick yesterday, has won this 6f sprint twice in the last four years; he saddles Purosangue, third at this meeting last year in the Group-3 Commonwealth Cup Trial. BETDAQ 17.0 taken.

Adday In Devon, who runs in the Listed opener today, was second and Rosario, 14-1 winner back to form at Goodwood yesterday, was fifth.

Connections hope the ground is not too firm and fear most the filly Woodhay Wonder, winner back to back on a sound surface here last Spring.

She swerves the opening Listed, which landed Unequal Love a 108 rating for the Wokingham. That didn’t stop her but Woodhay Wonder is already on 99, so it’s a case of ‘not too far’ P J McDonald.

More Thunder and Aramram beat Woodhay Wonder here 18 days ago but that was on soft ground and Tom Ward’s flying filly needed the race and a fast surface. BETDAQ 6.6.

HI! HE’S BACK IN THE HUNT

⭕ 2.35 Thirsk Hunt Cup His Irish Derby third cost Hi Royal a high mark and he’s remained in the Pattern until now, having dropped nearly a stone for this handicap debut. BETDAQ 7.6 taken.

A similar situation applies to Flight Plan, on the slide since a Group 2 strike in the autumn of 2023, first run in a handicap today on the track where he had a good blow first run back, leading until the final furlong. Betdaq Betting Exchange 14.5.

GET DIAMOND ON THE HOUSE

⭕ 2.55 Newmarket (Palace House Stakes) A third consecutive sprint at Newmarket today, but this is the main one, a Group 3. Won last year by a three-year-old, it has Tropical Storm bidding to continue the trend.

Tropical Storm beat Magnum Force on this ground before that one won the Breeders Cup Juvenile. BETDAQ 9.0 taken.

Another aged three when placed in this last year when favourite, Beautiful Diamond is back for more today, with Karl Burke in fine form. BETDAQ 8.0.

What are points? Points facilitate a staking plan, which is the secret to creating profit. One point is whatever you choose: a pound, a euro, or whatever ….

Start with a bank and decide how much you can afford to lose over a period of time, and determine the size of your bets accordingly. Daqman makes this variation every day.
