QIRAT 7-FURLONG SPECIALIST
⭕ 2.40 Ascot (Victoria Cup) FAVOURITE: just one win in the decade. WINNER by stall: 25:23:29:18:13:10:24:27:2:12 last year.
AGE: all four or five.
Roi De France (gate 18) has a huge weight for what he’s done and is badly off with Popmaster (1), third when they filled the places in a Kempton Listed in December and short-headed, giving Roi De France 7lb, on the same course two weeks earlier.
Myal (19) has charged a stone up the handicap with five out of six in the last eight months (5-5 in handicaps).
At Haydock in April, had English Oak (6) behind, slowly away. That one ran off with the Buckingham Palace Stakes in June, drawn 26.
Silver Sword (17) won on turf at Meydan in March by a neck from No Retreat (4) but his success in UK was back in 2023.
Up nearly a stone after a hat-trick last summer, Ten Pounds (16) resumed by making all at Newmarket 12 days ago.
Metal Merchant (15), back at Newbury earlier last month, has struggled with his mark since taking the Spring Cup there a year earlier.
Winner over 1m at Ascot on soft in the autumn, Ebt’s Guard (8) looked an improved sort when winning this year’s Newbury Spring Cup (good).
Qirat (9) was 6th in the Britannia (1m GF) at the royal meeting, and has 7f form of 12112, while Metaverse (13) has scored on the July Course (class 4) and twice at Kempton (AW).
Gleneagle Bay (12), still unexposed, was a half-length second in a big field at the Curragh in the autumn and, back there in March, 5th in the Irish Lincolnshire (first-time cheekpieces).
Hickory (11) was on the wrong side in this last year when fourth (not clear run; hit by rival’s whip). Then badly drawn again here in July, beaten only two lengths in the International.
DAQMAN verdict: Dublin trainer of Gleneagle Bay, Stephen Thorne, who learned his trade as assistant to Ado McGuinness, is striking at 25% on the Irish Flat scene this year.
The mount of Hollie Doyle, Gleneagle Bay is the gamble of the race at 8.2 on Betdaq Betting Exchange this morning. Qirat (at 9.5) is a 7f specialist.
OWEN CAN MAKE AN IMPACT
⭕ 1.15 Lingfield Oaks Trial Has cut up to a nothing event as a fillies’ test and as a betting race. Even Aidan O’Brien’s hot favourite Giselle has a hood on, as if ashamed to show the face of silly trials for silly money (£34k to the winner).
⭕ 3.00 Lingfield Derby Trial Anthony Van Dyke (Aidan O’Brien) won this in 2019 on the way to victory in the Derby, and Ambiente Friendly was runner-up at Epsom last year after scooting clear of Illinois (O’Brien) in this trial.
O’Brien’s Puppet Master (fourth in both the Royal Lodge and the Ballysax) is the likely favourite but his Stay True is a Galileo colt who ‘could be anything’ at this stage. BETDAQ 5.5 taken.
Rogue Impact, out of a Galileo mare, might play James Owen into the Classic game, after the stable’s brilliant Chester Cup strike yesterday. BETDAQ 12.0.
FIRE IS ULTRA CONSISTENT
⭕ 1.35 Haydock (Swinton Hurdle) Goblet Of Fire hasn’t been out of the first four in his last 17 races, Flat and Jumps, winning nine of them. Big at 13.5 on BETDAQ this morning (3.4 four places).
Dance And Glance, who was caught out when Bareback Jack slipped the field at Bangor last month, could do better under Harry Cobden at 8.3 on BETDAQ.
Evan Williams has won this twice (2016 and 17), including when Adam Wedge scored on Silver Streak. Wedge is back for the stable on Dr T J Eckleburg.
The partnership scored at Chepstow before finding the Red Rum Chase at Aintree out of their league. Down 5lb for this return to hurdles.
FOUR IN NAPS PURPLE PATCH
⭕ 7.45 Warwick Local trainer Dan Skelton (I’ve heard of him!) has Harry riding here, instead of at Haydock, and Deep Purple is napped to see off the sequence horse, Prince Imperial, at the weights and give Daqman four naps in a row.

What are points? Points facilitate a staking plan, which is the secret to creating profit. One point is whatever you choose: a pound, a euro, or whatever ….
Start with a bank and decide how much you can afford to lose over a period of time, and determine the size of your bets accordingly. Daqman makes this variation every day.
