THANK YOU RACHAEL: Rachael Blackmore retired on her own terms yesterday – just as she has conducted her whole career. In her case the terms have broken barrier after barrier and it’s impossible to do justice to her career in just a few words. A winner of each of Cheltenham’s feature races including A Plus Tard in the Gold Cup, a first Grand National winner for a female rider on Minella Times and a relationship with Honeysuckle that simply kept on blossoming. The 35-year-old can now look forward to life outside of being a jockey and I wish her well.

DANTE WEEK: York’s Dante meeting starts tomorrow. Don’t miss Daqman’s big race previews this week. On the eve of the action he keeps stakes low on a modest days racing today.

GREAT SCOTT!

⭕ 4.12 Beverley Prolific recent winner Zappata is shooting up the weights but a fifth win on the bounce looks more than likely against some out of form rivals here.

It’s unusual to see such a sequence in the modern era of handicapping but try as he might the handicapper still hasn’t got to grips with the George Scott trained three-year-old who won off just 46 at Wetherby in April and is now racing off 75.

He still appeared to have plenty up his sleeve when winning at Ripon on Friday and if anything the extra two furlongs should suit him more together with the fast ground which has been the common denominator between his recent quick fire wins.

Ed Dunlop sends the hitherto disappointing Arundel north for his handicap debut but there’s not much to go on so far in terms of any future ability. He was sent off a 200/1 chance at Wolverhampton last time out which surely must be an SP record for the trainer at the course?

MIRACLE WORKER

⭕ 4.42 Beverley The money has arrived for the Sir Mark Prescott trained Analogical who makes his handicap debut and now looks more than likely to go off odds on having started at 100/1, 80/1 and 80/1 in three starts last season!

If you missed the early prices surely it’s far too late now to jump onto him on Betdaq Betting Exchange?.

Rommie The Miracle is another one that could improve on handicap debut and her form has a little bit more substance.

I looked at several options here including the place market, forecasts and even betting without the favourite, but there’s limited downside (1 point in fact) in a straight forward win bet in case the favourite flops.

THAT’S THE SPIRIT

⭕ 4.55 Chepstow Seraphic won at Brighton two starts ago but it was a weak contest and he is up 3lb. He has since been out over hurdles which may have blunted his speed?

Angel On High’s career record of 2-35 sends a cautionary note so it might be best left to Forest Spirit who bounced back from a poor all-weather run at Wolverhampton to run well at Windsor when third last month.

What are points? Points facilitate a staking plan, which is the secret to creating profit. One point is whatever you choose: a pound, a euro, or whatever ….

Start with a bank and decide how much you can afford to lose over a period of time, and determine the size of your bets accordingly. Daqman makes this variation every day.
