DAQMAN’S PRIDE IS SAVED BY 4-1 WINNER: The one that drifted won; the gamble lost. That was Daqman’s day yesterday with victory for Bahrain Pride (WON, eased out to 4-1) but Mr Poy, 5-2 favourite from 5.7 taken on BETDAQ, failed to respond to the urgings of Oisin Murphy.

NOW HE’S IN THE FORTUNE COOKIES’ LIST: As he had done at Windsor, hardly needing any aids from his jockey, so Bahrain Pride did again at Ripon yesterday, despite being hiked five grades. Impressive! Enough to include in Daqman’s Fortune Cookies horses to follow. Full update below.

🗓️ Tomorrow: the winners they refuse to acknowledge.

STABLE CHALLENGE FOR ENABLE

🍪 FORTUNE COOKIES: Enable may be joined by stablemate Logician, the St Leger winner, in Saturday’s September Stakes at Kempton; both have the Arc de Triomphe as their target.

The only other in the Kempton race to have a rating within 20lb of Enable is Charlie Fellowes’ Melbourne Cup runner-up, Prince Of Arran. Fortune Cookies update:

🏇 ADDEYBB Irish Champion Stakes at Leopardstown on Saturday, September 12.

🏇 ART POWER If the ground at Haydock on Saturday is soft, we’re hoping he waits for the Flying Five at the Curragh on Sunday, September 13.

🏇 BAHRAIN PRIDE Owes me nothing after drifting to 4-1 yesterday and winning, impressive yet again. They must now think about the Middle Park or the Mill Reef.

🏇 BATTLEGROUND Doubly engaged at the Irish Champions Weekend of September 12, 13.

🏇 CAMPANELLE Our Prix Morny winner could be back for one of the big two-year-old tests at Newmarket.

🏇 CHIL CHIL Will Chil Chil take in the ‘Lochsong’ fillies’ test at Salisbury on Thursday on the way to the Ayr Gold Cup? Coincidentally, last year’s Salisbury winner was Belated Breath, who next time out was slammed five lengths by Chil Chil at one of the Newmarket autumn meetings.

🏇 DANDALLA Cheveley Park Stakes, Newmarket, September 26.

🏇 DREAM OF DREAMS Whatever happens with Art Power, we have Dream Of Dreams in the Haydock Sprint.

🏇 ENABLE September Stakes, Kempton, Saturday. Has won 16 races for us.

🏇 FANCY BLUE Irish Champion Stakes (Saturday week) or Sun Chariot (October 3).

🏇 LUCKY VEGA National Stakes at the Curragh on Sunday week.

ALSO: Aramon (National Hunt), Fanny Logan, Highest Ground, Kameko, King Vega

BADRI NO BAD BET

⭕ 3.45 Kempton The first of two competitive 12 runner class 3 handicaps on the Kempton card which look the most interesting from a punting perspective.

In the first of them, Delilah Park is favourite, despite the steadier of 10 stone 1.

Trainer Chris Wall has his string in good form (4 winners from last 15) and his mare has a terrific 4-7 course and distance strike-rate which includes her shock 33/1 success last time out after which the trainer could offer no explanation for the improvement in form.

The 7lb penalty is a concern but more so is the fact that she has never gone back to back with her wins. In fact, her course and distance win in June was followed up by her finishing last of 10 back over the same C&D.

She might struggle today against a couple of progressive runners including Clog Maker. The Mark Johnston trained runner makes his handicap debut having won two of his three starts. He’s back after a break but this is a pretty deep contest.

A bigger danger might come from the Charles Hills trained Badri with man of the moment Jim Crowley onboard.

He’s only been tried over today’s seven furlongs once and was a winner at Lingfield so I think the switch back to the trip and also the all-weather are both positives for him. He also gets a little relief from the handicapper and should be a major player. I will stake to win 10 in both the win and place markets on BETDAQ.

NIGEL NOTT FAVOURITE

⭕ 4.15 Kempton If anything, this six furlong handicap looks an even tougher puzzle.

Again, there may be solid reasons for taking on the market leader.

Breath Of Joy might find this trip on the sharp side. The Amy Murphy trained runner won over seven furlongs at Haydock in June and was also successful last time out over six at Pontefract but the Yorkshire course is a test of stamina and today will be more about speed.

Sir Michael Stoute runs Full Authority who was a fairly modest third at Doncaster on his first start for the stable and also since wind surgery. There’s plenty of question marks about him – first all-weather start and first start in a handicap and the early market signals are not especially strong.

Nigel Nott looks a win and place project for Michael Appleby. He was a very creditable third on stable debut over course and distance last month and should improve on that effort to run into a place (at least) again.

POETRY IN MOTION

⭕ 7.15 Hamilton Ayr Poet is the proverbial winner without a penalty after his success in an apprentice race at Ayr (appropriately enough) last week.

His trainer Jim Goldie is running into a nice stretch of form and Ayr Poet should prove hard to beat.

Although runner-up in his last two visits here – the horses that have beaten him have won and finished second since and he is clearly running off a good mark at present.

Start with a bank and decide how much you can afford to lose over a period of time, and determine the size of your bets accordingly. Daqman makes this variation every day.
