EMMET RYAN ON THE FA CUP THIS WEEKEND: After a string of shocks in the last round, should bettors fear more giant-killings in the fifth round of the FA Cup? Tipster HQ has the answers, let’s pick some winners.

We kick off at Selhurt Park where it’s Alan Pardew looking to stymie Betdaq customers once more. Pardew was poison to punters while at Newcastle and he’s done plenty to bother bettors in his brief reign at Crystal Palace. On Saturday evening he once again presents a dilemma for the market as his Palace side takes on Liverpool for a place in the FA Cup quarter-finals.

Having created breathing room in the battle to avoid relegation, there’s ample reason to believe Pardew will take the risk of going full-on in the FA Cup to give his side some extra motivation. For me however this game isn’t about Palace, it’s about Liverpool and that really has been the case irrespective of who the Reds have faced since pressure began mounting on Brendan Rodgers. The train has left the station and the run has begun. Liverpool are unbeaten in all competitions since 14 December and come into this game on the back of 4 wins in their last 5 league games. With Liverpool on the wrong side of the equation for Champions League qualification, a run to Wembley would cool a lot of heads. I don’t think it will be pretty but it will end on the day. Bet on Liverpool to win at 2.12.

Bradford pulled off an upset for the ages in their victory over Chelsea last time out. It was one so good that we can’t even repeat what Jose Mourinho told the League One team’s players after the match but suffice to say he was impressed by their bravery. For punters, it was a poor result on the day but the last thing they should do is expect lightning to strike twice. City will remember the win over Chelsea for decades but on Sunday they face a Sunderland team in need of good news. The market has over-valued the upset last time out, that makes the visitors a great price here. Bet on Sunderland to win at 2.14.

Finally we turn to the other team that could really do with winning this competition. Arsenal host Middlesborough in a game which everyone assumes they will win despite the February malaise kicking in last weekend. The outright is just not pretty here but there’s ample value for those of you who, like me, believe the Gunners can bounce back in style. There’s no Harry Kane coming to the Emirates on Sunday. Bet on Arsenal/Arsenal at 2.2 in the Half-time/Full-time.
