He now previews tonight’s match between Atletico Madrid v Deportivo….

LA LIGA Match Preview:
Atletico Madrid v Deportivo
Sunday 18.00 Live on Sky Sports.

La Liga Week 15….
FC Barcelona and Atletico Madrid are in action on Sunday and both will be expected to pick up maximum points in the week before they face each other in their top of the table clash at Camp Nou. Week 15 of La Liga and both clubs face very contrasting affairs with Atletico hosting bottom club Deportivo and table toppers FC Barcelona facing a tricky away tie, even by their standards, to the in form Andalusians Real Betis.

The A-Team….
Atletico Madrid played in the Europe League on Thursday however having already qualified they had the luxury of sending an almost reserve team to the Czech Republic and coach Diego Simeone will be sending the A-team back in on Sunday and it will be a big shock if his side don’t pick up the three points and stay on the coat tails of liga rivals Barcelona. Los Colchoneros have played seven and won seven in La Liga this season and have bagged twenty one goals along the way. It is known to all by now the goal threat posed by Atletico super striker Radamel Falcao however he is currently going through a barren spell having bagged only once in his last five games. The Columbian hit man will be afforded a few opportunities from Depor’s defence and they won’t be shown any mercy by the long haired number nine.

The Defenders….
Deportivo have had a serious fall from grace in recent years having been regular participants in European competitions and winners of La Liga in 1999-2000. The Galician’s reached their lowest point when relegated just two season’s ago but came straight back up under the guidance of current boss Jose Luis Oltra in his first season as club coach. The ‘blues and whites’ are right back in trouble again this season and whilst they look like they have enough up front in strikers Pizzi and Rikki to fire them out of the relegation zone it is at the other end of the park which is of most concern to Luiz Oltra. Deportivo have conceded thirty one goals in fourteen Liga games and eighteen of these have been away from home. In their last five games they have concede eleven goals and some to teams with far weaker fire power than that of their Madrid hosts.

Homeland….
The Atletico fans are used to seeing goals being scored at their Vicente Calderon stadium and in general they have been very tight at the back with the excellent Chelsea loaned keeper, Thibaut Courtois, having to pick the ball out of his own net only six times. A point here for Deportivo would be a fantastic result however the Galician coach will stick to his four four two system that he strongly believes in and he will be seriously considering taking the three points from their high flying hosts. Though bottom, this season the Depor boss has seen his side score three away to Valencia, put four past Barcelona and scored one of only three goals conceded at Real Madrid’s Bernabeu.

Goal….
This will be an entertaining game to watch. I do expect Altetico Madrid to take the three points and score a couple of goals in the process. Deportivo sit at the bottom but I do believe that its only a matter of time that they will get out of trouble. They could do with out a visit to play Falcao and co. And be cut further adrift at the bottom but coach Luiz Oltra will treat Atletico as he has done every other opponent this season and instruct his team to go out, score goals…. and hope for the best!…
