PREVIEW
Watford’s 3-2 win over Crystal Palace last August was the first time in seven league meetings the Hornets had got one over tonight’s rivals, but they will be confident of completing the double having won six of their last eight games.
Gianfranco Zola’s side have made massive strides this season and victory later will see them jump into the second of the automatic promotions spots – albeit with most of their closest rivals having games in hand.
Palace’s good run of form has come to a halt recently and they’ve only won two of their last ten games as their promotion bid has rather ground out.
In addition, Ian Holloway’s men are winless in seven away league games, only taking three points in that period. They also haven’t scored away from Selhurst Park in 2013.
However, Watford with 58 and Palace with 52 are the division’s highest scorers and Watford’s hotshot striker Matej Vydra has hit 19 goals from just 37 shots this term, so there may well be a few goals later.
But the visitors made struggle to deal with the hosts impressive array of attacking options and, in front of a vocal home crowd and with Palace struggling on the road, Zola’s side can further push on in the table with a win.
