PREVIEW

Liverpool brushed Aston Villa aside with consummate ease at the weekend and Kenny Dalglish will look to follow that up with another victory at the DW Stadium this evening. That will be easier said than done though as Wigan have found some good form in recent weeks and held Chelsea to a deserved 1-1 draw last weekend.

The Latics have lost just once in five league games against Liverpool and have proved a real bogey team over the past few seasons. Wigan held the Reds to two 1-1 draws in 2010/11 and have not lost to them in their past three visits. However, the Latics remain third from bottom and they have failed to win any of their past six at home.

During that period Wigan have been beaten on four occasions and have managed just six goals in the process. The real concerns for Roberto Martinez are at the other end where the Latics have conceded 15 times in six home games.

Liverpool on the other hand have won four of their past six away league games and head into this contest fresh off the back of a convincing 2-0 win at Villa Park. Luis Suarez was in sublime form against Villa, but it remains to be seen if the manager will select him after his FA charge yesterday evening.

The Reds moved up to sixth after Sunday’s win and know they cannot afford to give any of the clubs above anymore gifts. Given Liverpool’s current run, it looks as if Wigan’s wait for a home victory will go on and I’m happy to tip up an away win at 1.59 on BETDAQ.

RECOMMENDATION: (1-10 points)

Back Liverpool at around 1.59: 6 points

Tuesday’s Return: -4.00
