FINAL CHANCE FOR JACOBEAN: SHAMROCK supports an Aidan O’Brien trained odds-on shot at Cork this evening.

It’s easy to see why Jacobean is priced up at odds-on by the layers on BETDAQ in the 7.35 at Cork. It doesn’t look a strong race and the question is whether Jacobean can be trusted as he failing to build on the promise he showed as a two-year-old.

He has already rewarded layers on a couple of occasions by being beaten at short odds. Incredible really, given his recent form, that he started only a 3/1 chance for the Group 1 Racing Post Trophy at Doncaster and finished fourth to Elm Park.

This season, although he has been kept busy, he has been largely disappointing. He was a well beaten fourth at the Curragh and then third at Tipperary.

Last time out he when he was a soundly beaten second of three finishing seven lengths behind Radanpour who might be quite smart.

His overall form is still head and shoulders above these and he should, at last, lose his maiden tag.

Ningxai and Laffina both showed promise at Dundalk and are likely dangers but this should be Jacobean’s night.
