GROUP ACTION: SHAMROCK heads to Leopardstown this evening where the highlight on the card is the Group 3 Ballyroan Stakes at 7.30.

I need help finding a runner, let alone a winner at the moment 😉

For the second day running the nap was a non runner, Spring Focus, at Sligo. Although the column did also put in a good word for Jim Bolger’s debutant Vocal Nation who won the opener at 9/2.

Sligo also race tonight as do Leopardstown where the feature race is the roup 3 Ballyroan Stakes at 7.30.

It’s a race that Dermot Weld has a great record in but he has no representative this year. Just five runners go to post but it looks quite tricky.

The ground is expected to be soft and this should suit the Aidan O’Brien trained Eye of The Storm who has won on ground ranging from heavy to good to firm.

He has two Listed wins to his name and also ran well in the two mile Qipco British Champions Long Distance Cup, a Group 3, at Ascot in October.

I’m not sure the drop back in trip will suit though, however, he is preferred to O’Brien’s other runner El Salvador.

Jim Bolger’s Chance To Dance is consistent and has winning form on soft ground but is unproven at this level and it was a little disappointing when only third of four at Naas last time out.

The bet may be the lightly raced Streetcar To Stars who has improved with each start and was quite impressive when making all to win his maiden at the Curragh.

He was a nose second over C&D to another of today’s rivals Roheryn but is weighted to reverse that form and of the pair is the one most likely to make the most further improvement.
