Three Listed and a Group race on the Naas card this Bank Holiday Monday and there is also jumps racing from Listowel.
The Listed Coolmore War Command Rochestown at Naas makes some appeal. Aidan O’Brien’s Air Vice Marshal has Group 1 entries and is a very interesting debutant but not especially strong in the early BETDAQ market and the suspicion is that he made just need the race.
Of the four remaining runners I think I want to be on the British raider Birchwood. The Richard Fahey trained juvenile made a winning debut in a BETDAQ sponsored race at Doncaster, only narrowly, but then stepped up in class (and distance) to win well at Newbury last time out. He beat Beaverbrook who has since won well at Chester and the third from the race Eltezam has also come out and won well subsequently at Haydock. The form looks rock solid and this looks a good bit of placement from Fahey.
Auld Enemy looked good when making a winning debut at Naas and will certainly be suited by the step up to six furlongs. He looks a little over-priced for value hunters.
Argentero has run two good races at Naas and may do better on the good ground here as opposed to the soft he ran on last time when second.
