FRIDAY NIGHT AT DUNDALK: Shamrock heads all-weather racing on Friday for the Dundalk card which gets underway at 5.45.
Yet again the Dundalk races are well subscribed and surely it can only be a matter of time before the course are granted more fixtures, particularly during the winter months, and/or a second all-weather circuit is built in Ireland.
The 8.15 on tonight’s card would appear to rest between four long standing maidens. King’s Wharf, Miss Forde, Oh So Lucy and Urban Ball.
There is little to choose between them all on the form book and on official ratings and often you look for the one thing tonight that could make a difference.
The answer tonight is blinkers, for the first time on Urban Ball. In truth she would just about be my pick anyway, after two excellent course and distance runs when beaten short margins each time. The blinkers only have to bring about marginal improvement to see her win tonight.
Stall 2 is a nice bonus. It’s always the quickest way round no matter what the distance at Dundalk.
