THREE NAPS UP OUT OF FOUR: Shamrock, who has already set up sequences this year totaling 30 winning naps, has now hit three from his last four at 4-6, 9-2 and yesterday Pittoni (WON 6-5). His current naps form is now 1121.
Look behind you Willie Mullins! Iām recalling the famous cry to Willie Robinson on Mill House in the Gold Cup as Arkle loomed up to land the greatest ever Irish victory at Cheltenham over the English champion.
āLook behind you Willie Robinson, man what are you about,ā sang Dominic Behan. Arkle won five lengths and stretched his authority to 20 over Mill House the following year.
Now, here I am, reckoning the boot is on the other foot with Willie Mullins. He has Soll and Allee Garde, first and third favourites, in the National Hunt Chase on the second day of the Cheltenham Festival next week.
But Iāve just had to have a pound on Paul Nichollsā Harry The Viking this morning, after Saturdayās Grimthorpe at Doncaster, won in game fashion over the Aintree Grand National favourite, Junior, by Ikorodu Road.
Now Ikorodu Road was beaten in a similar scrap with Harry the Viking over the same course and distance on the same kind of ground in December.
My poor mathematics calculate from the collateral form that Harry The Viking rates 137. Four of the last five NH Chase winners have won off between 123 to 130.
Donāt get me wrong, Iām not wild about Harry; I just think 8.2 with Betdaq this morning is value. That price will go when Willie Mullinsā makes his selection, Soll or Allee Garde, on the day. And Iāll be waiting to get on.
Between Harry and Willie, Iāve got that canā-t-lose feeling! (Look behind you, Shamrock, man what are you aboutā).
