FABULOUS NAPS-WINNING MONTHS: Magical March starts tomorrow and, with Cheltenham just around the corner, we celebrate Shamrock’s fabulous start to the year of winning naps galore in January and February.

IRISH RACING FOR THE NEXT THREE DAYS: Look out at Thurles (Thursday), Dundalk (Friday) and Navan (Saturday) as he tries to make March just as profitable, marching on to the festival season of Cheltenham, Aintree and Punchestown.

Come to the January party: Come To The Party (WON 2-1) was the nap-happy way that Shamrock celebrated New Year’s Eve with the winner of that name, following another good-odds best bet with Mr Chow (WON 3-1).

His Saturday-Sunday selections at the turn of the year produced these results – 22121101 – and included successful doubles, one of them at 26-1.

A new sequence started with Hats And Heels (WON 5-6 nap) and Lastkingofscotland (WON 4-1 nap), with the hat-trick completed by Hada Men (WON 1-6). Dr Machini (WON 6-4) made it four naps on the trot.

If they didn’t win, his naps were second, and his 11-day sequence was then 21211122B2, his acey-deucy spree interrupted only when one nap was brought down.

On January 18, he completed a run of 21211122B2411, with five winners out of six in his trio over two glorious days.

Still the naps came in. He made it three out of four on January 20 with Tawariyka (WON 6-4), and the following Sunday he recorded four naps out of five and extended the run to 21211122B2411P131.

It became six out of eight with Page Turner (WON 5-2) at Limerick on January 25, so he was now on an amazing 21211122B2411P131101.

February first sequence: 11P1110131: Only the weather interrupted nap-happy Shamrock but by February 2, he was going for a best-bets hat-trick after 4-5 and 2-5 winners.

And, by February 4, it was clear that he was into yet another sequence, The Bosses Cousin at Fairyhouse making it four bets up from five, and by February 7, Cool Hand Luke (WON 4-6) was landing his sixth winning nap out of eight: he was on a sequence of 11P1110131.

A few days of no racing or no return, and he was at it again: we were reporting ‘Hat-trick Of Naps For Shamrock’, as he landed his best bets plus a 13-1 double.

February second sequence: 11111311 Move on through more days of winners to the headline: ‘Five Straight Naps’. Yes, he’d done it again: at 9-10, 4-5, 5-2, 4-9 and 2-9.

In fact, his second February sequence ended on February 22, with Cousin Vinny (WON 8-11) – and with Angle Blanc (WON 7-2) in a 13-2 double – so that the best-bet form figures were 11111311.
