HATS OFF FOR SHAMROCK: Our man landed his THIRD WINNING NAP of Royal Ascot with ALOFT (NAP) WON 5/2 and landed a confident place lay with Ol’Man River.

Three winning NAPS from four at Royal Ascot this week:

Tues: GLENEAGLES (NAP) WON 8/15
Weds: FREE EAGLE (NAP) WON 5/2
Fri: ALOFT (NAP) WON 5/2

It was only Forgotten Rules (NAP) on Thursday that let me down finishing third.

It was also good yesterday to see the place lay Ol’Man River finish out of the frame…..

However, I do want to be against Ol’Man River who, for me, has become bitterly disappointing this season and the place market on BETDAQ makes most appeal.

Maybe the tongue tie will spark an improvement? Maybe the extra trip? However on the evidence of this season he has to be a place lay for me at around 2.78 on BETDAQ.

So, to the final day of Royal Ascot 2015.

Ballydoyle is set to go off favourite for Ballydoyle in the opening Chesham Stakes !! As DAQMAN points out this morning, the Irish don’t have a good record in this race – Aidan O’Brien also had the favourite last year – Dick Whittington who finished third.

Ballydoyle started odds on for her Curragh debut but was only fourth – however, she had a relatively easy introduction and could find any amount of improvement today. The problem though is that likely improvement is well and truly factored into her price – so much so that she doesn’t represent a bet for me. At the end of the day we can only really go on what they show on the course and speculate on the improvement – but I need a better price if I’m speculating.

Mustajeeb and Due Diligence coupled look to have a good chance in the Diamond Jubilee Stakes at 4.20 but I’m nervous about the Aussie star Brazen Beau.

The nap has to be Wicklow Brave in the finale. Willie Mullins has plundered two of the last three runnings of the ultra distance Queen Alexandra Stakes and was on the mark earlier in the week with Clondaw Warrior in the Ascot Stakes.

Wicklow Brave sprang a 25/1 surprise when winning the Vincent O’Brien County Handicap Hurdle at the Cheltenham Festival earlier this year and is unbeaten in two starts on the flat. Whilst most of his form has been on more testing ground he handled good to firm OK at Punchestown when a neck second in a big field bumper.

…… oh, and the jockey. He’s not bad either.
