SHAMROCK LANDS NAP AND NEXT BEST: It was TWO OUT OF TWO for SHAMROCK on Wednesday with his nap Sizing Codelco winning at 4/6 and next best Tudor Fashion winning at 4/1. Top tipping and it’s now 10 out of 13 naps in 2014.

The naps are now 76% in 2014 – or, if you prefer, 10 out of 13 !!!

The latest NAP was Sizing Codelco who won well at Fairyhouse but in terms of the price it was a case of same old, same old…..

I keep saying it – but the prices are better on BETDAQ at the time of selection. I can’t believe it started 4/6 on track having been 2.4 on BETDAQ in the morning.

Just for good measure the next best was also a winner yesterday at a much more juicy 4/1.

So, it’s now 10 winning naps from 13 this year !!

1 Jan LIEUTENANT COLONEL (NAP) WON EVENS
2 Jan NO BET
3 Jan THE FIRM (NAP) WON 8/15
4 Jan WICKLOW BRAVE (NAP) WON 2/5
5 Jan MOONLIGHT BOY (NAP) PULLED UP
6 Jan URANO (NAP) WON 10/11
7,8,9 Jan NO BET
10 Jan NOT YOUR CALL (NAP) WON 4/5
11 Jan SI C’ETAIT VRAI (NAP) 2nd
12 Jan AKLAN (NAP) WON 9/10
13,14,15 Jan NO BET
16 Jan KYLESTYLE (NAP) WON 10/11
17 Jan WISHYOUWEREHERE (NAP) WON 7/4
18 Jan IVAN GROZNY (NAP) WON 8/13
19 Jan LE VENT D’ANTAN (NAP) 3rd
20,21 Jan NO BET
22 Jan SIZING CODELCO (NAP) WON 4/6

Gowran Park stage their big meeting of the year this afternoon with the ultra-competitive Goffs Thyestes Handicap Chase the betting highlight of the day at 3.15.

Barney Curley doesn’t (appear to) have any connections with any of the runners so we are looking at 9 the field on BETDAQ, otherwise it might have been evens and shortening after the gambles landed yesterday.

Soft to heavy ground is forecast for the marathon sapping 3m 1f contest which includes the 2012 winner On His Own who was last seen when finishing sixth in the Becher Handicap Chase at Aintree in December. He is one of four Willie Mullins trained runners in the race he has won three times in the last 10 years. Stable jockey Ruby Walsh is onboard top weight Vesper Bell.

I thought hat-trick seeking Playing was of interest win and place at around 16.5. He’s shot up in the handicap after two runaway wins but is also improving at a rate of knots and the trip and going should prove ideal.

There’s a whole host of short priced Willie Mullins trained runners on the card. For the nap, I am siding with Black Hercules in the closing bumper at 4.15 to follow-up on his debut win at Punchestown where he beat a subsequent winner.

SHAMROCK’S BETS:
NAP: Black Hercules (4.15 Gowran Park)
WIN AND PLACE: Playing (3.15 Gowran Park)
