The Gatechecker has finished third and second in two starts over hurdles so far but should lose his maiden tag in the McHale Fusion Vario Maiden Hurdle at 7.00 run over 2m 4f.
Trained by Michael Hourigan, the five-year-old impressed when making a winning debut in a bumper at Limerick – storming clear to win by 15 lengths. He was a well beaten third on his return to the track on his hurdling debut (heavy ground) but ran much better at Killarney last time out when a close second to Star Counsel. The two furlong drop back in distance and better ground should be very much in his favour here.
Carlisle bumper winner Mr Steadfast looks the danger in a race where many are already looking exposed.
