SHAMROCK AT FAIRYHOUSE: For the final day of their Easter meeting. SHAMROCK’s best bet runs in the opening beginners chase at 3.25.

I couldn’t follow up the heroics of Sunday at Fairyhouse yesterday although one winner from three selections after Grand Jesture was pulled out of the Irish Grand National. My winner was Dedigout (next best) who won at 2/1. The nine-year-old made it three Graded wins in a row in some style having previously won the Galmoy Hurdle at Gowran and the Boyne Hurdle at Navan.

Fairyhouse get underway at 3.25 with a seven race card on Tuesday on ground that remains soft and soft to heavy in places.

Just three runners go to post for the feature race of the day the Normans Grove Chase at 3.55 and it looks to present Mallowney with an ideal opportunity to complete a hat-trick. He won a similar Grade 2 with consummate ease at Naas last time out beating Rathlin by 17 lengths and had today’s main rival Twinlight a further three lengths back in third.

In the opening beginners chase it might be worth siding with the Henry de Bromhead trained Clonbanan Lad as he returns chasing. He was a good third in a handicap hurdle at Naas last time out and has previously run well over the larger obstacles.

SHAMROCK’S BETS:
NAP: Clonbanan Lad (3.25 Fairyhouse)
