She is very much a fast ground specialist – winning her maiden over seven furlongs at Leopardstown last season.
I think it’s also fair to say she bumped into a smart one on debut….. she finished a half length second to Legatissimo on debut at Galway !!
Since then she has run two cracking races at the top level. Firstly second to The Great War in the Listed Blenheim Stakes at the Curragh (six furlongs) and most recently sixth to Pleascach in the Irish 1000 Guineas over a mile at the Curragh. It might well be that the in-between trip of seven furlongs tonight is perfect.
On the ratings Geoffrey Chaucer has to be the danger but on current mood you would say less so. He’s only managed to beat one horse home in his last three starts and the hope must be the firmer surface is what he needs to get his career back on track.
Slipper Orchid won this last year on the same ground – but it looks a tougher renewal.
