MATCH OVERVIEW:
The IPL continues on BETDAQ Betting Exchange as Punjab Kings take on Delhi Capitals on Thursday! This is a huge game for both sides in the race for the playoffs as the games tick down. We had some exceptionally high drama in the Mumbai Indians v Gujarat Titans game on Tuesday with the rain, and it looked like Mumbai had it in the bag to put them one point ahead of Punjab Kings into second spot. The rain stopped just in time though, and Gujarat Titans ended up winning in very dramatic style, so it was Gujarat who jumped over Punjab. That wasn’t a good result for Punjab given Gujarat had played one game less heading into that game too.
Obviously getting into the top two spots and getting two chances at a place in the final is massive given how competitive things have been at the top of the table this season. You wouldn’t quite call it a must win game for Punjab because they are highly likely to reach the playoffs in some form, but it is a must win game for Delhi Capitals. They are outside the top four coming into this one but they are bang there. They are only one point behind Mumbai Indians and a win here would put them level on points with Punjab – there’s very little between the sides on net run rate too, so that would likely see Delhi jump over Punjab.
A high stakes game awaits then! Both sides have obviously played some very good cricket and this should be a cracking game. Punjab Kings have all the momentum too – Delhi Capitals have lost three of their last four completed games, and had back-to-back losses prior to the Sunrisers Hyderabad game when they were saved by the rain.
WEATHER AND PITCH WATCH:
Punjab Kings have now played all their games at Mullanpur, and they moved back to Dharamsala for their final three home games. Their final home game here will be at the weekend against Mumbai Indians – that could be a real blockbuster with high stakes! I would definitely keep an open mind coming into this game scoring wise. We only have had one game here which was last weekend; Punjab scored 236/5 and won by 37 runs in a high scoring game. The wicket looked very good so you’d have to lean towards good batting conditions, but as we know the ball can move around a lot here.
RECOMMENDED BET:
It’s no surprise to see Punjab as the favourites here; they have been playing superb cricket and their batting line-up has been fantastic. Delhi are under big pressure at the moment – they would have lost against Sunrisers Hyderabad bar the rain came with another batting flop. Prior to that they had lost back-to-back games – I think this is the game where Delhi playoff chances end given their current run, and I’m happy to have a confident bet on Punjab at 1.8. Everything feels in their favour here.

IN-RUNNING STRATEGY:
It’s hard to go into this game with a set-in-stone in-running strategy given we’ve only had one fixture here this season. That was a very high scoring game, but as we know the ball can seam around a lot here so I would go into the game with that in the back of your head. To be honest, if we see dew and similar conditions it’s easy to see another 200+ score. I would just hold on to confirm conditions and then support the batting side. I’d expect the Punjab batters to win the game here, and that’s where we can see most market movement.
