SUNDAY IN EUROPE: The Ultra previews INTER MILAN v LAZIO with a recommended BETDAQ bet.
INTER MILAN V LAZIO
7.45pm We’re really at the business end of the 2024/25 season on BETDAQ BETTING EXCHANGE now! On Sunday we have the penultimate matchdays in La Liga and Serie A – but after Barcelona secured the La Liga title on Thursday night, all eyes turn to Serie A where the title race is still very much alive. We already know the winner of the Premier League, La Liga, the Bundesliga and Ligue 1 this season – the only drama left is in Italy! We have a number of huge fixtures in Serie A on Sunday evening, but by far the highlight is Inter Milan hosting Lazio given the situation.
You also have the likes of Roma v AC Milan but obviously AC Milan have nothing to play for there. Then other huge fixtures that will have an impact on the title race and the Champions League spots like Juventus v Udinese and Parma v Napoli. Juventus and Napoli are both odds on favourites there – shorter than the Inter Milan win here. Another top class fixture is Fiorentina v Bologna, but Bologna have really finished Serie A poorly – however they will still be celebrating their midweek Coppa Italia win no doubt!
Back to the title race, and Napoli come into the weekend with a one point lead after dropping points last weekend against Genoa. That was criminal, but of course the title race puts teams under immense pressure. This is the weekend where Napoli might think they can win it given Inter have a difficult fixture against Lazio – but as we all know strange things happen on a title run-in! Inter Milan come into the game as the odds on favourites at 1.68 with Lazio 5.7 and the draw is 4.2 at the time of writing.
This was always the fixture you were looking at on the run-in for Inter Milan to be worried about. Lazio have been playing some nice football this season – they have the fourth best attacking figure with an average xG created of 1.6 – Inter Milan are only 0.06 above that. They’ve also been very solid at the back – they have an average xG conceded of 1.2 which is only 0.01 behind Inter. On paper, there’s very little between the sides and obviously this game is absolutely massive for Lazio too given they come into the weekend sitting in fifth spot level on points with Juventus in the race for the final Champions League spot.
Inter having home advantage for such a huge game is obviously a key factor here, but I do feel that the 1.68 on the home win is a little short. Lazio have been excellent this season, and they have been tough to beat too. I expect them to make the game closer than the odds suggest, and from a value point of view it’s hard to get away from a small position on the Inter lay. You’d have to expect a tight game too with so much at stake; perhaps given the situation a draw is no good for either side, and the last third of the game reflect that. Under 2.5 goals is a tempting bet at 2.18, but as I said things might get very open late on, and I marginally prefer the Inter lay.
