DOUBLE THE PRICEWISE SCORE: Daqman won yesterday’s value tipping challenge to Pricewise 2-0 with Le Reve (WON 5-1) and a place bet in the Welsh Champion Hurdle, Kayf Moss (2nd 20-1). He goes 16-8 up, with twice as much success as his Racing Post rival. They clash again today at Punchestown (3.40).

5-4 WIN SO BACK-TO-BACK NAPS: Daqman landed back-to-back naps when Pain Du Chocolat (WON 5-4) romped away with the opener at Sandown, following Le Rouqin (WON 8-13) on Friday.

39.0 ‘TRIUMPH’ HOPE ON TARGET: But it’s his tilt at the Triumph Hurdle for which Pain Du Chocolat could be remembered. Daqman took 39.0 on BETDAQ, staking to win 100 points. Asked if he’d run the horse, a jubilant trainer Alan King said: ‘Try and stop me!’

WHY NOT YORKIST FOR FUTURE CHAMPION

1.00 Musselburgh (Supreme Scottish Trial Novices Hurdle) It’s hard to look past Tony McCoy on Cheltenham-bound El Namoose, who’s hardly been off the bit in his hat-trick on different ground since September.

The chances of a different result are in the hands of Paddy Brennan, whose mount, Some Plan, will try to get an unassailable lead, and Peter Buchanan, whose Stylish Chap is a stayer but also takes a keen hold.

The Grey Taylor was second in a race of winners on the last day. It’s not a punters’ start to Scottish Champions Day but an intriguing one. All four are in the Supreme Novices’ Hurdle at the festival in March.

1.30 Musselburgh (Scottish Champion Chase) A poor race for favourites but a good one for Donald McCain, 101 in the last three seasons with Swift Arrow a loser in 2013 but last year’s winner off today’s mark.

McCain inserts Kie into the equation today. A dual Musselburgh winner, he’s back on his preferred surface but has to give weight all round.

Interesting that Buthelezi, who was a hard-pulling front runner over Jumps last Spring, learned to settle on the Flat, including a good run at Musselburgh when asked to pag a welter 10st.

Ifandbutwhynot and Swaledale Lad have tackled Graded hurdles, so are clearly thought to have that touch of class. Since Swaledale Lad has already won two over fences, I give him the vote at 6.4 in the BETDAQ orange, with Ifandbutwhynot the stakes saver.

2.00 Musselburgh (Scottish Triumph Hurdle Trial) I’m happy with my BETDAQ 39.0 Pain Au Chocolat right now – he’s down to 16-1 with some bookmakers – but there are also big prices in the orange offers about those who are trying to upset Hargam here.

Musselburgh CD winner Superb Story (58.0 on BETDAQ) and Starchitect (as low as 25-1 in places at fixed-odds) are quoted well behind Hargam, who is among the top four in the market, and is odds on to win this.

Hargam (ex-Alain de Royer-Dupre) and Starchitect (with Edward Lynam) were both fair sorts on the Flat. Where they finish today could have a huge bearing on Cheltenham.

The link is that Starchitect ran second – albeit at a respectful distance – to the Triumph Hurdle favourite, Peace And Co, at Doncaster. But, at today’s weights, Starchitect is behind Full Day on a line through Unanimite.

Because of the wildly fluctuating ground (Ffos Las was a quagmire yesterday, Musselburgh is good), I have been preserving my banker and lays sequences and, in this race I would have to bet long odds on Hargam.

I’ll be content with some Daq Multiples for Hargam and a bet in the place market about 16.5 offer in the orange Full Day,

2.30 Musselburgh (Scottish Future Champions Novices Chase) Three horses here are within 0.15 of one another in the BETDAQ orange this morning.

That tight? No, I don’t think so.

There’s certainly far too much risk in Doyle Carte over fences at the moment – you’d be backing him on his hurdles form, and that wasn’t much cop either – and Seventh Sky looks exposed

Toye Native creeps in off a low weight but, surely, should Ifandbutwhynot go well in the Champion Chase earlier – which he will – then you must be on his nine-lengths Carlisle conqueror, Yorkist, in this novices’ version.

3.00 Musselburgh (Scottish County Hurdle) Older horses rarely get a look-in, with seven out of eight to six-year-olds, one five, in the years since a seven-year-old score in 2006.

Sea Lord, who is eight, has Graded form but that ‘s why he’s giving weight all round. Cinders And Ashes is in a similar situation.

Sea Lord’s stablemate, Retrieve ‘could be anything’ off bottomweight but surely this is a case for dutching Nicky Henderson’s stablemates. He’s got them in at about the right age and around the right weight, both needing this better ground. I could get 7.8 Cool Macavity and 8.6 Sweet Deal on BETDAQ

3.30 Musselburgh (Albert Bartlett Scottish Trial) In an open race, Uisge Beatha (who appropriately beat Always Tipsy on today’s course) could be the value in a race which has gone to outsiders in its two seasons so far: 8.6 on BETDAQ early mouse

TWINLIGHT NAPPED IN THE TIED COTTAGE

3.40 Punchestown Sunday (Tied Cottage Chase) Sizing Europe won this two years running (2012-13) but each time found one too good, finishing second in consecutive Champion Chases at Cheltenham.

He was unsuccessfully trying to follow in the hoofprints of Moscow Flyer, winner of this in 2003 and 2005, going on to take the Cheltenham championship on both occasions. In between, Big Zeb (2010 winner of this) also pulled off the big double.

If you were asked to name anything even remotely resembling that trio, it would have to be Twinlight, the only Grade-1 winner in the race.

Hidden Cycloine has an 8lb pull on him on Leopardstown form (Bright New Dawn behind) but he is a bridesmaid who hasn’t scored since Listowel in 2013 (he needs better ground, so Cheltenham maybe).

Twinlight disappointed some pundits when beaten in the Clarence House at Ascot but, for me, he ran an excellent third behind the past (Sprinter Sacre) and future (Dodging Bullets) champion chasers at Cheltenham.
