MATCH OVERVIEW:
We have a huge clash at the IPL on BETDAQ Betting Exchange on Tuesday as Mumbai Indians host Gujarat Titans. After finishing last in 2024 and losing four of their opening five games this season, it looked like the writing was on the wall for Mumbai Indians. We were close to calling them a franchise in crisis – since then they have been the best side in the IPL! Six wins in a row gives them all the momentum coming into the latter stage of the group stage, and they are in an excellent position for a playoff spot.
Gujarat Titans have equally been impressive. They have the same amount of points as Mumbai Indians – both sides sit on 14 points, two behind RCB who have been excellent this season too. Obviously we all know how important those top two spots are in the table given you get two chances at a place in the final so we’re going to have an exciting finish. Gujarat Titans have a game in hand on Mumbai and as the sides already have the same amount of points, you could call this a must win game for Mumbai if they want to finish in those top two spots. They’ll finish their season a few days earlier than everyone else, so they won’t have the benefit of chasing a net run rate or anything like that.
We should have a cracking game here though. It should be a high quality game too with both sides playing some excellent cricket at the moment. This should be a good test for Mumbai too – the Gujarat batting has been piling the runs on coming into this game.
WEATHER AND PITCH WATCH:
This Wankhede is always a superb place for IPL cricket; the stadium does be rocking. This is the second last game here this season and we’ve had some good scoring conditions. This first inning scores here this season have been; 116 all out (chased), 221/5 (won), 162/5 (chased), 176/5 (chased) and 215/7 (won). I don’t feel there’s been a massive edge batting or bowling first – obviously the dew on the night will probably be the biggest factor as to whether or not there’s an edge. Most sides like to chase these days anyway!
RECOMMENDED BET:
It’s no surprise to see Mumbai come into the game as the favourites – they have home advantage and they are currently on this excellent run. They are one of the most popular IPL franchises too, so they tend to be over-bet a lot in the markets. However, while I wasn’t surprised to see them as favourites, I was surprised to see them trading as short as 1.7. I feel that’s far too short, and we’ll see a closer game than those odds suggest – Gujarat Titans have put up some excellent performances with the bat recently and I’m happy to back them at 2.4.

IN-RUNNING STRATEGY:
We have two high quality sides here, and we should have good batting conditions so I’d expect a pretty even game. As I said above, I wouldn’t be going into either innings here seeing a massive edge for the side batting or bowling. The side who plays the best cricket will win rather than the toss being a deciding factor. I really like the Gujarat batting line-up, and that’s where I feel we’ll see most market movement in our favour given Mumbai are the odds on favourites.
